You should try it out first before declaring useful. I cant get any of the currently uploaded videos to play properly at all to test it. I just upped what I had done to see if anyone else can confirm if useful or not.

I setup some WindowsXP and Windows10 virtual machines, installed DirectX and Lav Filters, latest winuae. The issue is always the same. The video will get stuck on first few frames and flicker between the video and Amiga overlaid image.

In normal genlock mode (try this first) or in ALG mode? In ALG mode it probably means game was attempting to seek out of bounds (=video is too short).

Checked through some old "Arcade - Daphne" downloads on one of my HDDs that I must have grabbed back in 2004...

Is any of this useful?

Have been looking through other old "Daphne" stuff that I downloaded back in 2001:

"All_daphne_v0.99.3_romsets_except_starblazer.zip":

Files inside the "lair" directory for example:

@Toni; are these useful in order to be able to add games like Dragon's Lair etc. to WinUAE?

Also found this tool "Dvd2daph-v201.zip":

DVD-Rom Daphne conversion tool for use with
Digital Leisure's "Dragon's Lair" and "Space Ace" DVD-Roms

Heheheh... =)

I finally got a hold of the Space Ace DVD-Rom, so here is version 2.0 with support for Space Ace. You're welcome. =) It also has some Dragon's Lair improvements. If you ran DVD2Daph 1.0, you are advised to upgrade to 2.0, even if you don't have the Space Ace DVD-Rom.

If you don't have the SA DVD-Rom and are upgrading DL only, you can skip the bulk of the work, and run it *without* the DVD-Rom in the drive. This way the upgrade will take almost no time at all.

*** This program does not, and *will not* ever be able to convert the "Space Ace" Demo files on the "Dragon's Lair DVD-Rom" to a format usuable with Daphne. Same goes for The Dragon's Lair DVD-Video and PS2 version. Unfortunately, all the video footage from the laserdisc is not present on these discs. Therefore, the video files are unusable. Schucks. It currently doesn't wook with the Space Ace DVD-Video disc either, but it is unconfirmed whether this disc contains all the animation.

Disclaimers
-----------
this program was made without Digital Leisure's permission, consent or knowledge.

this program was made without the Daphne team's permission, consent or knowledge.

this program may not wook for you. If you don't follow these instructions *exactly*, it won't wook. Either you're doing something wrong, or it doesn't wook on your system. Either situation is not my problem. It wooks for me, and that's all that really matters.

If this program messes up your machine, it's not my problem. Use at your own risk.

bbdmux, ac3dec, and oggenc used under their respective licenses. the bbdmux readme is included, which is the only program that had one.

These are *not* the best quality files you can use with daphne. Ideally, you can get the best video from a rip of an LD. If you must use the DVD files, they'll be optimal if you convert them from 30fps/720x480 to 24fps/640x480 after using this program. You can do this with something like Tmpgenc, if you're an advanced user.

If you use an ATI video card, apparently you *must* do this preceding step. I wouldn't know, however, since I use NVidia cards. If you're not an ATI user, it's an optional step which will most likely increase performance on your system.

I am not sure it is possible to run PALCOM Laser Disc video images on WinUAE?
The MSX platform support these Laser Discs.
MSX Emulators like openMSX and ePX-7 use only one video file for each LD game.
openMSX = *.ogv
ePX-7 = *.ogv or *.avi

Minimal requirements if you want answers to non-ALG related LD stuff:
- Link to working Amiga software that controls the LD player.
- Full model of LD player and at least some specs of the player.

Thanks for the feedback, Toni.
I think no Amiga software* exist to support the needed hardware.

http://www.msxcomputermagazine.nl/mc...erdisc/en.html

PS: I am not talking about the Amiga software for Dragon's Lair.

"Does it run on Amiga hardware?" is the question that requires positive answer.

EDIT: LD player can be emulated but it is totally useless and pointless without software!

My fault Toni; I mistakenly thought that "Laser Disc" games were the same as "American Laser" games...

There is some software (ADF) for Dragon's Lair Laserdisc in TOSEC. Could that be used with WinUAE?

No (at least not known) for PALCOM LD
For another non-ALG + Amiga I know only the LDG software for the Dragon's Lair LD.

Thanks. That seems to have enough information for implementing Pioneer LD command set emulation (=Dragon's Lair).
