Complete? Bah - I hate completing RPGs! That ruins all the fun. Ideally, I'd like an RPG you can't complete, except maybe death from old age.

I've been searching in vain for a guide to this game for years, to no success. So any help in finding a guide or just some general tips would be fantastic.

Sorry Ironclaw but that's no good, it's actually the solution to the graphic and text adventure Lords of Time which is the first part of Time and Magik

I'm presuming you mean the Hollyware one where you're a pilot crashed into a fantasy world, rather than the text adventure Ironclaw is referring to? As if so, I think I've got a map floating around somewhere.

General tip would be to stock up on water and apples as both are free (waybread if you can afford it), stay close to towns in case you start getting overwhelmed by zombies/dogs/dwarves etc, and aim to get training in magic and swordsmanship as quickly as possible. If you don't mind doing the old 'save' trick just before you try and steal anything, thats also a handy way of beefing up both your experience and money (from selling the stuff on).

Also, ALWAYS save before eating a mushroom. Those things can do some weird stuff to you.

Thanks for the tips Slideyfoot.

I did make a map years ago using WinUAE to play, Casting the map spell during the game, taking a Screenshot and pasting into Photoshop but then managed to delete the damn thing.

What i was really after is some sort of guidance as to what I'm supposed to be doing in the game.

I can find the dragon but not kill it. I can find the entrance to the druids temple but can't enter, etc etc.

If you could dig out that map though that'd be much appreciated.

Yeah, thats exactly what I did - not sure I completed the whole map, but think so. Will check through my CDs tonight after BJJ training.

I haven't had any luck killing the dragon either - got the fire resistant cloak thing and the relevant potion to stick on my sword, along with potions training, but wasn't able to actually put the damn stuff onto the sword, meaning I just stared at the dragon while it tried to burn me. Which was fun.

The druids temple I have managed, however - its an arrangement of four twigs from different trees (sure I wrote this down somewhere: would be with the map if I have), lit on the night of a blue moon. When you have it set up right, the wall in front of the stairs disappears. You're supposed to then get a book from the maze lower down, but the time I tried it, hadn't beefed up enough so got slaughtered by blokes chucking fireballs at me.

Fireproof cloak??? Must have missed that one, I've got the dragonsbane though(northern mountains) but i could never figure out what to use it on. It seems to just end up on the floor unless i eat it, which seems to have no effect anyway.

I could never get the gate to open even after the 4 twigs and blue moon bit, I can only assume i went wrong somewhere.

This time through i did manage to find a spell book on the top floor of a castle somewhere, maybe Bessak's. (Edit: Don't know what use it is, makes player feel funny then disappears after reading.)

Thanks for your help though.

Yeah, you get the fireproof cloak thing (don't think its called that, but same function) from the druids shop.

It has to be in a specific order, both in terms of which ones you lay out on which pyre, and which order you light them in - took me a while to work it out. I just looked on my CDs at home, and I don't appear to have my notes or map: hopefully its on my other laptop.

I don't think I even managed to get into Bessak's castle - thats the one the women in the pub has a key for, presumably? More fun to work it out on me own, though. Or at least try, fail miserably, then ask.

Thanks for your help though.[/quote]

Damn - looks like I didn't note down the exact order or quite complete my map. But meh: hopefully the two attachments will help a little.

I'll have to remember to pop on here again when I next go through my nostalgia craving and whip out Lords of Time.

Nice one!

Now I can at least start heading in the right directions when i'm tryin to find somewhere.

And it's not gonna take much at all for me to finish what's missing.

Thanks a lot.

No problem - I'm always thrilled when someone else knows what the hell game I'm talking about when I mention Hollyware's Lords of Time. That and Amberstar are the Amiga RPG nostalgia motherlode for me (I would say Bards Tale too, but I first played that on the Spectrum +3).

Which reminds me, for anyone else reading (I assume you already know this, kronikal) - same goes for wells, as some of them are poisoned. You can fill up your water flask from wells and rivers, but the water isn't always safe (I think its normally ok from rivers: can't remember getting hurt from that, but its been a little while).

Ok. Old thread, and as a huge fan of Faery Tale Adventure I am sure you are already aware if it but there was a FTA2 .
The game is quite good. I did enjoy it a lot (but never had time to finish it ).
Unfortunately, it's a PC game and it was never released on Amiga .
Just in case (or for the youngest one knowing nothing about FTA ) here is a link.

I've never been able to get Faery Tale or the sequel to work properly on my phone emulators for some reason, so I'll have to give that link a go. Does it generally work ok in DOSBox or WinUAE?

I did play FTA2 on a real DOS environment (not emulated). I should still have the original CD copy somewhere.
Regarding others games I have tried in DOSbox several years ago, I guess FTA2 should work without any issues.

PS: I just think about it right now and it can be worth the try to have a look with a search engine. Maybe someone has updated the engine for FTA2 to work with any recent Windows version (I know Descent, Tomb Raider, etc. have got one). Why not FTA2 ? I don't have the time right now to check but if you have...
