My wallet is ready
UW is really one of those games who could benefit from a newer engine. The original one was quite impressive for the time, but it's horribly limited compared to what modern games have accustomed us to. I guess they'll end up having a Kickstart like pretty much the 99% of every remake/oldie-inspired game out there? |

Best news ever! I hope they don't fuck it up.
now, we just need a "dungeon master ascension", a "gods ascension" and an "eye of the beholder ascension" too, why not |

I really look forward to this Underworld Ascension, hoping it has none of the control issues that came with UU 1 and 2; I think I managed to go past the fifth level and just doing that it took me lots and lots of hours of fun.

But the end to end dungeon that is UU1 is the best game ever. Quote:
Looks great, need some interface polish, a fullscreen automap by button press (hope they remove that small automap from the main hud), and of course have real time combat. |

I used to read all the Ultima Underworld walkthroughs around, a long time before actually playing the game, not to help me through it, because when I did, I had probably forgotten them all, but just because the world there looked so choerent, a very good narrative world.
I was pointed to an article about the original UU just few days ago, and I was amazed about how much the things described there were stuff that you could actually see back in the day already was making this game different from the rest... http://press.etc.cmu.edu/content/ult...d-corvus-elrod About Aeon, interface has more sense than it seems, later on; fullscreen automap is ingame already; small automap was important to Florian and I would not hav considered anything BUT real time combat |

It did among others lack fake walls, which is surprising, and the monsters were not really memorable ones. Nothing like the iconic mummies and knights of DM. The problem is we need more, much more games of this type. Not one game that shows up every two years. |
