OS 3.1/3.5/3.9 Speed

Can anyone suggest me how to speedUp OS3.9?
I understand that DEFICONS and REACTION take time but OS3.9 is
slower (and not a bit) than OS3.5 in opening a drawer and showing
the icons too. Are the OS3.9 icons bigger or with more colors?
Are there background programs I can disable?
I remember that OS3.5 was a bit faster against OS3.0/3.1.
The only tool I really like is present is DEFICONS.
I've a real A1200 with 68030 @50 and 16MB fast RAM
(DBLPAL x 32colors).

Use WBCtrl to move the icons into fastram. Also you can reduce the quality of the icons in Workbench prefs. Another thing that comes to mind is FBlit. MCP and MCX commodities also contain speedup thingies.

You must ditch dblpal - it`s REALLY slow. See if you
can get a scandoubler/flicker-fixer; the machine will
be transformed if you use hi-res laced or even super 72.
If you get a multiscan monitor then you can use these modes
in 16 colours with the software flicker-fixer on Aminet
(the name of which I forget).

a nice speedup can be gained by disabling amidock, it constantly refreshes slowing the system down a fair bit.

dblpal hires noflicker 704x512x6 was a nice mode to use on aga when hooked up to a vga monitor. a slight slowdown, but nothing major and looks nice too (For aga desktop anyhow).

I wouldnt bother messing with crap like magictv and stupidly low res modes, just not worth it. Whatwas point in updating to os39 if ya want it to look like crap. the usual aga fast blitter blitter fixes , no amidock and "loadwb -simplegels" should get the speed nice and usable.

I don´t use AmiDock anyway, why use it when you have ToolsDaemon

. And of course WangiPad to launch games (best launcher tool so far for my purposes)
