Was hoping repairing any visible broken traces might do it. Small solder iron tip and solder is all? Tin it up?

Technically. U976 must be working. and the thing doing that actual stuff making AGA dissapear is pin 2 and 3 on U976 must be tied to GND.
but if you have this issue, you SHOULD remove that components around there and clean up the leakage under the ICs.. or it WILL be worse... |

So I need to take it to the local retro electronics repair shop and have him work it over. Ugh. Or break it apart and sell maybe? An A500 with that upcoming Vampire option sounds juicy.

or take it to someone who actually knows how to repair an Amiga?`would not be THAT expensive to fix..
A500 with vampire.. sure.. but for me I jumped off the vampire train as they seems to want to go for incompability :-( (too damn much of a purist to accept ANY HW registerchange or so.. so 080 is.. well not my cup of tea) Mod note: If you got triggered at this point, please continue the discussion in this other thread created for it. and an A4000 is still an A4000 I have a repairstop right now but usually a RTC area repair after batteryleakage is aprox 50-80eur. 50-80 Euro is pretty good. However, not knowing you, no offense meant, sending out my baby's board across the pond.....nervous and not in the service.

I fully understand. and as I got TOO much repairstuff to do currently I need to say no anyway. however the issue is not THAT hard. unless the battery puked totally (I hope it IS removed)

It puked but the system was in a tower conversion so most went on to the case floor. Battery is out and if this helps identify....AGA worked BEFORE I cleaned the board. Heh. Scrubbing away the rotten gak did it's job.
There are a couple chips and tiny SMDs whose pins are obviously missing. |

if pins gone missing. cleaning is urgent. (under the ICs)
and yes. usually cleaning does damage traces. |

If this is the board I am working on for you its a heck of a lot of damage. Here are a few pics to give an idea of how much I have had to do so far. I'll be adding to this shared album as I go.

I'll make a coffee book when it's all done.
