CF card, FAT95 and other riffraff

:: Creeeeaaak ::

Thread opened. First post. Hello!

Got a PCMCIA-adapter for my A1200. CF-card is labelled "Platinum 512MB,"
nothing else. No clue. Friend friendly gave it to me for testing. The thingy is formatted FAT32, empty. CFD mounts it ok as CF0:
FAT95 is installed. However, accessing the drive from CLI like "dir cf0:" results in a "No disk in drive CF0:"
Running OS 3.1.
I want to use this card to exchange files between the Amiga and several other computers, running Windows and UNIX. I guess FAT32 should do the trick.

Any clues?

Not all CF cards work in the pcmcia port, there is no way to tell you just have to try them and hope. If you have the all the needed files (cf0, fat95 and carddisk.device) in the right places then it might just be an incompatible card (it might work on the ide port though as an Amiga hard drive).

What happens when you quick format the card?

There are a couple of flags you can set in the mountlist for adjusting compatibility - it might be worth checking them out in the compactflash.device documentation.

Thanks for your replies.
Mhhh...Quick Format also results in "No disk in drive."
Might possibly be the card itself, as -Acid- implied. Worthless then, since I
already got a SD card as HD
@Daedalus: Will check this! If only time wouldn't be so sparse...
