A1000 alternating black & gray screen blinking LED

I have an A1000 that displays an approx 7 second black screen, then approx 1 second gray (could be white) screen. And while it's displaying the gray screen the red indicator LED on the computer blinks. Is this a code of some kind telling me what's wrong with it?

Hi G.A.Pster.
How many times blinks the led?.
Are you using a Commodore Monitor or conect Amiga to tv without modulator?

It blinks 5 times.
It's connected directly to a TV with an RCA cable. (this didn't seem to be a problem with my other A1000)

Are you sure that your Monitor and A1000 are same norm? (Pal / Ntsc )

About blinks, from:
https://ftp.fau.de/aminet/docs/hard/Amigafix.txt
check:

1) fast steady power LED blink; dark screen
a) 74S51 (U9I) & 74F74 (U8I); Damaged from expansion port

Yes it will work with this TV.
Originally when I first tested this one it displayed the "hand holding disk" image when I turned it on but something died in it in the couple of minutes it was on.

It's not that one because it alternates between a black and gray screen.

Hi !

Alternate color is OK because Amiga is in a loop of reboot. Why reboot? because you have a problem. Maybe a ic faulty or maybe a PSU problem.
Read this about color:
http://members.quicknet.nl/rhm.herol...rs_meaning.htm
Amiga

Check PSU, check volt, and status of capacitor. You can use the other PSU(the other Amiga1000)

Be aware, that the bootstrap ROMs have different led blink and colour codes than the kickstart ROMs.
