scart kabel and old crt monitor
Hi,
I found a old philips crt monitor working with my amiga. I am using it with the scart cable I did for my lcd tv (from Ian webpage). Can I use this cable without problem on a crt monitor or should I use something else. I remember to have modify this cable with some resistors, maybe it's not so good for the crt ? Thanks |

Hi lolof,
If the SCART cable you have was made according to Ian Stedman's specification and works satisfactorily with your LCD TV, then it will be fine to use it with your old Philips CRT monitor as well. Old CRT monitors are much less fussy about the signals they will accept, so it was inevitable that problems would arise when LCD TVs and monitors were introduced. Modifications to the cable specification were made to accommodate LCD devices, but the resulting cable retains full compatibility with the older displays. |
