No card slot

Wonder if anyone can help me with this problem. I am using a zappo scsi CDrom and have workbench 3.0 installed. The CDrom has been working fine up until I installed 3.1 Kickstart roms, Since then the CDrom has not been working. When I go into prepcard it came up with a message saying 'no card slot' instead of the normal prepcard screen. Is this anything to do with my changing the roms (which are working perfectly) or is it a problem with my PCMCIA slot on the motherboard?
Any advice would be gratefully recieved as I am trying to upgrade my O/S and need my CDrom working.

Are you sure the Kickstart roms you have are for the A1200? What are their version numbers? If they are from the A4000 they might work, but won't have PCMCIA support.

The kickstart roms have the following info on them:
the first rom has J9547, 391773-01, v3.1 (v40.68), (c) AMIGA 1995, 28663A
the second rom has T9553, 391774-01, v3.1 (V40.68), (c) AMIGA 1995, 29680A
I have put my 3.0 Roms back in now and the CD rm is working again so it seems the problem may well be with the 3.1 roms although the computer appears to be running fine on them apart from the loss of the PCMCIA port.

According to this page, you've got the correct version of the ROM chips:

No idea what the cause of the problem is, though.

I have just tried installing workbench 3.1 to see if that made any difference to the kickstart roms but they are still not detecting the PCMCIA slot. I have gone back to using the 3.0 roms but have now found that although the PCMCIA slot is being detected the CDrom does not appear to be working. Will I need to reinstall the CDrom drivers as I have changed the workbench version or should the version update not make any difference. Will workbench 3.1 work ok on 3.0 roms?

You might have overwritten some of the files for the CD ROM drive when you upgraded your Workbench with older/newer/different versions. Re-installing your drivers should fix it.

Thumbs up

Reinstalling CD drivers did the job. 3.1 Roms still not working properly so am still using 3.0 Roms for now. Will probably have to get new 3.1 Roms later. At least my CD drive is now working. Thanks for the assistance.

I have now discovered the cause of the problem with the PCMCIA port detection when using the 3.1 roms. It turns out that my amitech expansion board causes a problem when it is using the full 8 meg of fast ram when i changed the jumpers to make it 4 meg the PCMCIA port works. So I now have 3.1 roms and 3.1 o/s and a working PCMCIA port, just need to think about investing in either a 040 or 060 board to replace the amitech so i can run more fast ram.
