A500 as MIDI module
Hi,
How can Paula chip be used as as a synth/sampler module controllable by a external MIDI sequencer? Is there any software which can be used for this task? A500 Fat Agnus 8375 (512KB or 1 MB. How can this be checked?) Kickstart 1.3 TS MIDI interface |

midiIn seems to be something you want. It makes your Amiga to a 16 channel MIDI device wich can be controlled by external Midi sequencer. But this is only a MIDI Sampler, you can put samples like drumsounds on Single Keys of an Channel for Drumkit like layouts. Allso it is possible to put samples on hole keyranges so you can play a Piano like sample like a real one with velocity and Pitch and so on. But I do not know how many Polyphonie you will get over an A500, course this tool renders the samples to an realtime Audio stream over Paula, so on faster machines you get 32 channel polyphonie then... you should try it if it works for you. But is is an small tool wich does not need much memory, so beneath that it would be easiely possible to use a few 8bit samples for playback even on your 1mb A500. Allso you could try older Octamed Trackers wich can allso handle MIDI data for Input to play some samples, or to sync the tracker to your external Sequencer using Midiclock. But Softsynth like Midi tracker or tools I do not know any public software wich could run on an plain A500 sorry, for such things you need more power inside ) you should better try free VST Plugins on you PC instead. |

Best Midi sequencer is OctaMED Sound Studio, hands down.
Of course there is Bars&Pipes and others. |

You ALL forget that some times, you don't want to have your Amiga as MASTER. That's when the problems begin. Most Amiga MIDI app were focused on having them s masters, instead of slaved. |

Well this program was an utter piece of shit.
I also tried ProjectMIDI. Same garbage. Unstable and ridden with problems. |
