A4000+CV64(3D)+CSPPC+OS3.9(1) weird problem
Hi, i have really big problem with my:
A4000, Rom3.1, Buster 11, CSPPC with last official bios, CV64, OS3.9 (original) BB3, OS4 Classic on second HDD. Jumpers are in right positions. Doesn't matter if CGX4 (with or without patches form A1k) or P96 (last from Aminet) drivers are installed (ofcourse not both together). When OS3.9 try to activate drivers and open RTG screen, Amiga just hangup. Sometimes show guru with 8000 0004 error. I tried almost everything but without any success. I made these tests with different configurations (A3640 and CV643D are from working A3000): A4000 - Clean install OS3.1, 060 library (P5), CSPPC, CGX4/P96, CV64 / CV643D - doesn't work A4000 - OS3.9 without BB/with BB3, 060 and PPC libraries (P5), CSPPC, CGX4/P96, CV64 / CV643D - doesn't work A4000 - OS4, CSPPC, OS4 Picasso drivers, CV64 - works A4000 - OS3.9 with BB3, A3640, CGX4/P96, CV64 - works A3000 - OS3.9, CSPPC, 060 and PPC libraries (P5), CGX4/P96, CV64/CV643D - works Last test was made in my A3000 to prove, that components works together OK. Honestly, I really don't know what to do now. Every piece of hardware works fine, but not uder OS3.9 (OS3.1) on A4000 in CSPPC+CV64 or CV643D combination. Any idea? (ps.: sorry for my bad english - I need some practice ) |

$80000004 is an illegal instruction. This a very common guru. Since you have tried both CGFX and P96 and AmigaOS 3.1 and AmigaOS 3.9, that leaves the 68060.library that is the same. Usually the P5 libs are good, especially with P5 hardware but it might be worth trying Thomas Richter's mu libs...
http://aminet.net/search?query=mu680x0 It's a little harder to setup but very good. The AmigaOS 3.9 SetPatch will load the 68060.library directly so you do not need to patch that anymore. That's about it for possible software problems. Possible hardware problems could be bad buster/4000 or power supply. If the buster 11 is socketed then I would try changing that. The sockets used on the 4000 were cheap and had a tendency to warp too. Also try cleaning and re-seating the daughter board and CPU connector and removing any motherboard memory. Do all the devices appear in the early boot menu when you hold down both mouse buttons at startup? If they do, then wait until the 4000 is very warm, reboot, and look again. When I used to get this error I simply swapped everything to another A4000 MB... or at least swapped to another CV643D or CV64...
Or try taking everything out and cleaning everything and putting it all back together... sometimes just removing the CSPPC and reinserting it would fix it too... Now my 604e 233mhz sits beside me on the floor lifeless... and I'm typing this on the 800 SAM Flex just to my left sits my 667 SAM in its box... I'm thinking my 800 will be just to my right when I'm using the X1000... moral of the story... never EVER have only ONE Amiga of ANY one type |

Thank for your hints, but problem was solved yesterday's evening (thanks to Starej Mraf from Amigaportal). At position U103 there should be chip 74FCT244, but I had 74FCT240 (previous owner had FastLane SCSI in this A4000) which makes these problems.
