Is there any possible chance that i may have the top half of someone else's A1200 case? Can they get mixed up if you have a few A1200's open during soak testing? It's no big issue but as i mentioned before, the top and bottom halves of my case are slightly different shades of white and i've also just noticed they don't quite fit or line-up together very well when screwing the case back together (maybe slightly warped plastic ). The case still closes but the lines are not too straight around the edges.

Here's a pic of my A1200 before i opened it to install my HDD... notice the seam along the front where the top/bottom halves of the case meet... it looks a bit warped/not straight. Also the two front corners look slightly warped as the edges/lips of the case don't quite fit well together (more noticeable on the front-left corner).

As i said, it's no big issue but it's one of those little niggling things that catches my attention now and then

Look at the seam of the case below the spacebar in 8bitbubsy's photo, there is a slight gap where the two parts of the case join... but only below the spacebar. Maybe it's a common thing with some A1200's? Some maybe more noticeable than others? Anyway let us know how you get on with yours and post some piccies please

Looks pretty normal to me, maybe you got better eyes than my hawk eyes

If you look left from the middle where you said you can see it carrys on, I think it's just the light.
Theres usually a slight gap between the joins usually anyway isnt there?

Maybe you could ask 8bitbubsy to take a clearer picture for you to decide

There is usually a slight gap which should be consistant all the way round the case, but with 8bitbubsy's Amiga (and mine) the gap widens in some places making it look like it's not quite together properly. Look along the front from right to left and you can just make out where the gap widens below the spacebar.. a better quality photo will show it clearly

PowerPie5000, this is normal with every (at least many!) Amiga 1200.. They were built that way, a bit rubbish. The Amiga 500 for instance closes together just perfect.

Yeah i've noticed with a few A1200's there is a bit of a "bulge" in the plastic below the spacebar area of the keyboard, but with my NOS A1200 it seems the top half of my case could have been mixed up with someone else's during testing? Both halves are a different shade of white and they don't quite fit together properly... The left and right side's/corners of the top part dont quite fit over the edges of the bottom half properly making it look a bit warped (probably is warped plastic). My other A1200's were not like this (or maybe just not noticeable).

I see you noticed my cool little web surfing skeleton

You should keep an eye out maybe for a minty replacement case if its really bothering you which I think it is by the sound of it! They pop up from time to time, you broke the warranty seal so I doubt amigakit will replace the top part now

Just an idea heh, I think theres an amiga 1200 casing on ebay at the moment, if I recall it had only minor yellowing which could be fixed easy with retrobrite and I think it was pretty cheap too ;-)
Have you got a closer pic of your amiga from the same angle.

It was a molding issue nearly all suffer from it. The lugs on the left that keep the keyboard in place are to long, this results in the keyboard sitting on top of the lugs and hence raising it.

Yes we do sell replacement top and bottoms, but the top wont help. A bottom might, but would need to be altered slightly to make keyboard sit correctly.

Ok thanks for letting me know... I wont bother replacing the case as i can now see the plastic parts you are talking about. I can very easily fix this little problem with a needle file, Cheers
