Yes that's right, it's a 4-colour bitmap font using only white and black. ColorFonts can use up to 256 colours, but you're best to use one that shares its palette with Workbench if you use it there. They're handy for using in games, demo scrollers and video titling.

@Cammy whats the progress on your simple Workbench packs? I thought I read that you were creating a basic pack for 68k Amigas?
Or maybe I was dreaming again Steve. |

There are a couple of different ways to do it; either a patch to the font drawing routines that adds the shadow "on the fly" as text is renderd on screen, or use a colourfont like Cammy mentioned. Have a look on aminet for some of the common utilities to achieve either result.

I would love to continue working on the Workbench packs but we still haven't found someone who can set up a suitable forum for us yet. Work is still going on behind the scenes though, slowly.
The tool I use to add the shadow to the fonts I use is this one, I think - http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/CreateOutline It makes a ColorFont rather than patching on the fly. |

Was it hard getting Amikit to work Retrofan?
I guess it's worth putting that CPU to some good use. Nice work BTW. |

I had to change too the way it makes it's online updates, as it wasn't working (surely someone who knows more could make it in the startup-sequence), but I did changing with Editpad the instructions in the WBstartup. I added the music at the beginning copying the comands to use Play16 from Sys4Aga startup, and in the PC I used MP3DirectCut for the original Mp3 music (Spot [ Show youtube player ]) and AIFF MP3 Converter too so I can use it with Thomas's Play16. The Amikit Logo showing the version that appears while booting (at the end, opening WBStartup programs) appeared by chance too, after introducing the CybebugFixAga in the Startup-sequence. I know it isn't ClassicWb, but I like to hear you liked it after so much work (and affection) I've put on it... Last edited by Retrofan; 09 January 2011 at 10:48. |

Amikit is a great pack, and very few have it running on real Amiga's so I think you've done a fine job. Thanks for the detailed account.

Good work, RetroFan. Looks great, now all you need are some Birdie textures to go with the VisualPrefs theme.

BTW... I know every CWB has it's style, it's a matter of taste. I already have a ClassicWB39 running, but I have a free CF to try another... Please tell me another, an example... If not, I'll try P96. EDIT: P96, idiot? Do you have a graphic card? Last edited by Retrofan; 30 June 2022 at 20:40. Reason: Just thinking.... |

What exactly is it you're looking for? A message forum or simply space to host the packs?

I think she needed a message board that works on Aweb, or ibrowse.
ie, NO CSS etc. |

To be fair : Several people offered webspace, but you'd have to set up your forum yourself if you're aiming for a non-CSS frontend (which should be not too hard).
