Babelonian language
@Windowskiller,
I've read the article again... and again... and again. The problem with Dutch language is that it can be interpreted in several ways. You could be right, but I think 'Euphoria' is synonymous to 'Boys without Brains'. The introductory text on the first page explains all: "Voor Amiga Magazine reden genoeg om softwarehuis Euphoria, ook wel bekend als productiebedrijf 'The Boys without brains, aan u voor te stellen."' can be translated as: "Enough reason for Amiga Magazine to introduce softwarecompany Euphoria, also known as productioncompany 'The Boys without brains' to you." |

Yeah, I think we come to the same conclusion. Euphoria has evolved from the Boys Without Brains.

Yes and no, my conclusion is a little more complicated.
Maybe the HOL entry can be changed to "Boys Without Brains [Euphoria]". |

This has similarities to the Teque/Krisalis scenario. Boys Without Brains started out in 1988 as a development team for the C64 game, Hawkeye. I remember this well because it was quite a good game and it received a lot of coverage in Zzap!64 because Newsfield's software arm, Thalamus, was the publisher.
Anyway, I'm not sure what they worked on between 1988 and the release of Disposable Hero in 1993, but it does seem reasonably clear that the Boys Without Brains didn't dispense with the development team name despite establishing their production company, Euphoria, during that time. If they had of, then there would not have been any mention of the Boys Without Brains team in the Disposable Hero credits. Moreover, Euphoria is coupled with the publisher, Gremlin, in presenting the game as a Boys Without Brains Production. Since Euphoria did not publish Disposable Hero, but was the production company/owner of the Boys Without Brains development team, the HOL entry would best reflect this situation by listing the developer just as WindowsKiller has suggested, Boys Without Brains [Euphoria]. Do you agree Andreas? Cody? Thanks Tim for scanning the Dutch article and to you and WindowsKiller for translating the critical info. needed |

Yes, in the HOL we use:
A [B] - when A is a subsidiary of B A (B) - when A is a label of B e.g. Hi-Tec [PAL Developments] - Hi-Tec is a subsidiary of PAL Kixx (U.S. Gold) - Kixx is a label of U.S. Gold In the above situation 'Boys Without Brains [Euphoria]' would seem correct. |

Although this Dutch text actually brings some clarity. Yeah, leave it that way. @Cody / DrBong If this goes on like this, we're about to need a kind of legend real soon, to explain our complex syntax to the people Last edited by andreas; 19 March 2004 at 23:37. |
