Rescue floppies on A500 without monitor

Hello, I have an old A500, a stack of floppies and my monitor has left me a long time ago. What can I do?

1) I bought a second floppy drive for my PC, but I heard that this method does not work well with copy protection and I still lack the proper cable to connect them both.

2) Or would an USB floppy drive help?

3) I am considering to buy AmigaForever from Cloanto. Is it possible to use Amiga Explorer without monitor over null-modem cable on an A500?
Otherwise I would have to do something nasty to a SCART-cable...

Use a TV instead. The Amiga has a chinch connector which can be connected to the video-in of a TV. It's black and white only, but for copying disks it's sufficient.

There is no method whatsoever which works well with copy protection. That's why it's called copy protection: it protects against copying.

AE cannot work with copy protected disks at all.

Not really. You have to make a boot floppy disk with the Amiga component of AE on it. The files for this are contained on the CD. Even an ADF file of the disk is there. But it's not possible to write them to disk blindly.

See above. A simple chinch cable should do.

Cool. I'll do that. Thanks for the hint.

Oh, sorry to hear that. I faintly remember that Xcopy was said to be able to copy protected floppies. So I imagined some low-level bit-by-bit scan would do the trick, and the emulator could work on such an exact copy. But then, I have no idea how copy protection actually works on floppies...
