General request: Please include the TOSEC name of the ADF you are using. If it's not in TOSEC, upload it to the Zone.

Adding the TOSEC name makes it a lot easier for people to help out finding a working configuration. A game cracked by XXX may work without problems, and the same game cracked by YYY may not work at all.

Don't take this the wrong way now; I always try to help out when I can, but by providing the TOSEC info you will get faster and better replies from all the nice people here. Except for Fred, from him you will probably get a big slap, some nasty insults or his usual pile of insane rubbish.

Nah, that's somewhat silly and a helluva work writing that down!
The CRC is enough...tosec.org is able to identify the game then, if need be.

What's so silly about providing information?
I don't think pressing Ctrl + C and then Ctrl + V is that hard. If people think it's too much trouble, why should anybody bother helping them out...?

Roll eyes (sarcastic)

You forget that some game versions could both come from private collections and be already in TOSEC.
The disk might be named just 'RainbowIslands_Vortex.zip'. Do you know a *non-awkward* way to obtain the TOSEC name except
- moving to tosec.org
- using the dbsearch link
- type in the CRC
- cut 'n paste the TOSEC name
?
/me doesn't.

If one wants to get help on getting a game to work, it's a minimal request, IMHO. If they can't be bothered to provide some help to someone who is helping them get a game working, then to hell with them. If someone is too lazy or can't be bothered to either run the disk(s) in question through a renamer or paste in the CRC, then they don't deserve the help.

I think Walker is 100% justified in his simple request. This is not a configuration order desk, after all. None of those actions are as much work as plowing through setting after setting to find the right combination.

Maybe I'm just a bit stupid, but how do you get the CRC of an ADF? Just for future reference...

I think most people use WinZip for this. I don't use that program (EZZip and WinRar are all I need).
