I fully endorse these sentiments

It would be nice to see a new name on the (virtual) trophy!

Regarding the discussion on Lemon:

I estimate the amount of possible points at 9.5 mio., according to what I saw, but could not reach in my play yesterday, and when I die less.

Compared to that, killing 3 more (or less) snowmen (which is very risky btw) is negligible. And you have to kill them when you want a small chance to defeat Dr. Maybe. As I know from the competition, defeating Dr. Maybe gave only several 10 k - nothing compared to the effort and the other bonuses.

I checked the round from last year to give me an idea as to what I scored and an idea as to what jPV might score. I only scored just over 1 million and jPV didn't enter into it so he is an unknown right now.
I hope to beat my score from last year, but will be playing all week long to give it my best shot

@Harry&Wolf: Collecting the first five items in the order 2-5-3-4-1 yields invincibility for a very long time which makes the game way too easy. Let's agree to not use this secret.

I second that. Also lets not use the unlimited lives and one other cheat I read (and forgot what it was) in this competition, which are triggered also by collecting 5 grouped items in a certain order. And also dont let us to peruse, that is killing more than needed for progressing, the endless appearing records, trains and snowmen in their respective levels.

Didn't know about more secrets. Yes, let's not use any of them.

Yup, endlessly appearing opponents (and projectiles worth points) are not allowed to be killed more than necessary to proceed.

I didn't even know those things respawned. (apart from the snowmen on the last screen, which are very tough to kill anyway).

Only some of them in selected places. You know where if you encounter the same trains a third time after some time.

When you say first 5... are you referring to the five on the level select (castle) area, or the first level?? Personally, I don't know the game well enough to know all the secrets, just the secrets I remember from last time we played it.

I had a good run going, then got to this awkward level and had to stop to go to bed... going to work on Fridays is such a bad idea

The ones in the castle (the hub): Cake, Hammer, Earth, Apple, Tap (=>CHEAT).

9.964.450

I played the sunken ship three times, but missed about 60 k score as i died one time very early. I also found still more bonuses and got this time almost all the lifes and goodies i could only watch in my former play, and I completed the game. I also lost almost no lives. I didnt die intentionally to replay other levels to increase my score. Lets see what score John does next, I dont think i can better this score, as getting all the stuff in the scrolling levels is very difficult.
Remark: I also killed only the respawning enemies i could not avoid and left such sections fast. (At the end I had 4 snowmen at Dr. Maybe, luckily he requires only 2 more roboball hits when he starts casting snowmen...)

While thinking about which levels could be replayed intentionally with dying I had the idea that it is not allowed to clear the level always completely for some levels, as they give lives and you would never be game over. So if you intentionally replay a level with dying, you are not allowed to take the extra lives from the exclamation sign boxes for all subsequent replays. The sunken ship level does not contain any extra lives.

^ Exactly, that's why I wrote earlier today at Lemon:

I only died on purpose on other levels.
But yes, if you avoid collecting the extra life (lives) a second time you can of course intentionally die in these levels, too.

Btw., I think there's only one level that has extra lives in [!]-boxes outside of bonus rooms (which you can only access once anyway). That level has three extra lives and isn't worth many points besides them.

I played this with intentional dying.
I was not focused enough this time, so i lost several lives, missed some bonuses and left levels much too early.
Well, congrats to John4p for winning the Knockout! I think i could have beaten him only in Chaos Engine, to be honest.

As comment: There are 2 ordinary levels with life(s) in !-boxes: The brown striped level and the brown level whose walls look like cork.

Well it's all over. Congrats to John for winning the competition (again), it was certainly a close-fought battle. Now it's time for the bread and butter of the League once more.
