Question IDEfix-97 keyfile

Hi there,

I just got my new A1200 installed with OS 3.9 & everything. Since I have a CD player via IDE connected, I would like to use IDE-Fix 97.

I downloaded & installed the demo version, but it gives rather annoying pop ups.

I would like to register (& pay) for IDE-fix, but they can absolutely not be reached anymore. The websit (www.elaborate-bytes.com) has no reference to this product anymore, there customer care cannot help me and the email adresses which are mentioned in the IDE-fix software don't work anymore.

Can anyone help me with:
A) registering IDE-Fix, or (since I think this is no longer possible):
B) a working key-file

The website is not www.elby.com, but most of the staff don't remember their Amiga history. If you find the right person, they will probably sell you a working key.

Otherwise you can ask www.vesalia.de, they still sell IDEfix (now called IDE-max).

However, (big however), as you've got OS3.9 and if you don't use a 4-way adapter (i.e. have only a HDD and a CD-ROM drive connected to the IDE bus), you don't need IDEfix. OS3.9 comes with a fully working ATAPI driver and the same CD-ROM file system as IDEfix.

Hmmm, I wasn't aware of that! A needless install, it seems to be .

Well, the problem being that you have to have a CD-ROM working to access the OS3.9 disc. And since you don't have a CD-ROM until you've installed the drivers from the OS3.9 disc, what are you going to do? Vicious circle.

what are you going to do?
You can use the demo version of IDEfix to install 3.9 and then get rid of it. You don't need to buy a key.
