UAE in a Satelite Receiver?
Hi. I have a question.
I have a digital satelite receiver which has an IBM PowerPC 405 with linux kernel 2.6.9 embeded. The machine boots from flash memory naw. I can install a hard drive in the recveiver. Is it possible to install/run UAE for linux on the receiver? |

It might be possible to compile E-UAE for it, but it will most likely be too slow. The PowerPC 405 seems to be running at about 400 MHz.

Well the ultimate thing would be for Amiga OS (or the AROS or MorphOS) to be ported to PowerPPC and to run native and not having to run on top of linux, but I guess this isn't happening now and there is a small chance of happening in the future.
Linux sucks, Windows sucks and my idea was to have the greatest GUI in my receiver and then to write or port programs (images are called in the Sat receiver language) to run smoothly and easily, not like those linux receivers. Thanks for your answer Duke |

If you really want it, you could add a bounty for AROS and someone else might pick it up: http://thenostromo.com/teamaros2/index.php

I have tried last euae ( cvs ) on a mac ppc g3 233 running linux ( 2.6.8 ) and a good 60% of a500 games i have tried are working ok in terms of speed.
Now i don't know how slower/faster is ppc 405 compared to g3 233... |
