Atlast, a game I'm good at - ok it is rather easy, but it beats being at the bottom of the rankings

My first attempt I scored 160pts (I was getting the hang of the game) and on my 2nd playthrough I scored the maximum. Now all I need to do is up my average speed

220 pts, 212 MPH

Lonewolf10

Quick question:

Now that I have scored maximum points, do I still have to upload score pics along with new MPH pics?

Yes. I got 238mph when it would have been the fastest av speed so far, but didn't post it because I only happened to score 216 points on that run.

I have improved my average speed

220pts, 241mph

However, the average MPH screen is buggy
I had several attempts at the game tonight. On some occasions previous average speeds vanished from the board (despite being in 1st with 241 average speed) and now it didn't even give one at all - see attached screenshot ("IndyHeat_MPH_bug.png").

Are you using ADF or WHDLoad?

Whenever possible people should be using the Whd version, these sorts of bugs are often removed by the WhdTeam.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. I'm using the ADF. I have WHDload (or a version of it), but I don't use it often as it doesn't always save game scores - probably because I'm a relative newbie to WHDload. With ADF's there is no score problem, but (as you said) bugs in the game remain unfixed.

One time I finished the first track in 48 seconds with an average speed of 220mph.
Then I finished it in 54 seconds with an average speed of 254mph.

So finishing the track as fast as possible isn't the way to go - at least not on the first 2 tracks.
So don't use the shortcuts there but rather stay on the road all the time and use plenty of boosts (only on the initial tracks) for good speed.

You can see your average speed of the last track by immediately pressing fire when the scoreboard shows up (if you press too late you'll only have seen the points&cash and return to the shop).

On the ADF version it shows that anyway, just below the score. My best average for the last track is 311MPH usings alot of boosts (atleast 2 per lap). The number of times you pit also seems to affect the average speed - on the last track you should only need to pit once (unless you run out of boosts).
Of course the other trick is to pit at the right time so that the other cars don't get in your way when you lap them - I find this hard to judge. I usually pit one lap after they do (except on the first track).

bah went afk on race 7 and it started without me, don't think i was doing very well anyway.

Game takes too long to get a score for my liking.

You can either pause the game or simply wait to start a level. The shop screen will stay there unless you hit fire to exit.

Fair enough. I can complete this in about 20mins or so - much shorter than ANY of the games we've played so far this year. Zeewolf took me about 5 hours!
