Looking for sid replay on Amiga
I got Hippoplayer and PlaySID3.0, which works fine.
That said, there is some reduced quality of the sound (using AHI under Hippoplayer), espesially noticable when playing BOFH_Servers_under_siege.sid. The replay routine not dealing with the newer sid well enough or just the output from the amiga? When I play older sids, they sound more as expected, not having the semi scratchy sound on some specters of a note. Are there any newer sid replay routines available or music players available for the Amiga (AOS 3.x under Vampire)? Expecting no, but giving it a shot ![]() |

If you use normal Paula chip for output (i.e. not a sound board), don't expect high quality sound out of AHI. If you get something really awful then you may try reducing the volume boost (down to 100%).
If you're looking for another player, DeliTracker/EaglePlayer can also play sids. |

The original PlaySID (as far as I know/remember) didn't emulate the SID filters, and tunes which use sampled sounds were modified to be able to play more effiently on the (68000) Amiga.
There are various other SID players on Aminet: http://aminet.net/search?query=sidp Ones which emulate filters will have higher system requirements than the good old PlaySID. But they'll probably sound better, if your system is fast enough to run them. |

any audio player which uses playsid.library will work fine
personally I use eagleplayer to play sids, I think is the best because you can choose easily which SID you want to play in the gui ( there are SID files which contain some SIDS inside) eagle player don't support ahi so will work fine,I use the 14 bit amplifier activated and all SIDS I tried sound like a real C64 |
