A500 read/write problem

Hey you folks!

My A500 has a nasty problem: When disk is inserted it cannot be recognized if the disk is write protected or not. Since 1995 when I got the machine it has had this problem.

I changed the disk drive with 'working one' but this didn't help either. I'm confused, has anyone ideas?

Possibly a dodgy CIA? From memory the R/W status is retrieved from a CIA chip. Or maybe a broken mobo trace nearby?

Addition to my post: What I mean was that my machine ALWAYS thinks that the disk is NOT write protected. So there is no way to protect the disks with read/write lock.
