Just a quick update... I got one of these Null Modem cables from ebay

Today I have successfully linked an A500 and an A600 via the cable and set up and played Battle Chess - it works great... I will test Stunt Car Racer and Skidmarks but I guess they should work also... so if anyone wants a Null Modem cable for their Amiga one of these would do the job...

Hi sorry Peter,

I completely missed this post.

Yes I built that cable and it works perfectly.
I considered buying one, but making it was so much more rewarding

DDNI - I wondered if you built this cable and if it worked ok?

I would like to link up an A600 and an A500 I have to experiment playing a few games linked via null modem cable... mainly Super Skidmarks and Stunt Car Racer.

I was going to make a cable unless anyone knows where I can buy a cheap Amiga null modem cable???

I was going to see if I could get the bits I need from Maplins and solder it myself... err... how exactly do I connect the points at pins 6 - 8?

As always any advice welcome...

No worries DDNI - I ended up just buying a cable - I was feeling a bit too lazy to make one to be honest and when I saw the one I bought on ebay I had my fingers crossed it would work... luckily it did

Has anyone ever played Stunt Car Racer or Super Skidmarks via a Modem rather than a Null Modem lead... I am a bit puzzled as to how this actually works... does someone have to set up a host game as it were with someone else having to dial the host Modem to join the game...??

Anyone ever done it?

Be interested in knowing how you set it up and you got on... I have an old 56K Modem - might be fun to try and set something up
