PCMCIA Ethernet trouble
I acquired a Netgear MA401 Wireless PCMCIA wlan card, and I am not being able to get it to run.
I am using the prism2.device driver for it, running MiamiDX, in an A1200 with a Microbotics XA1230 030@50 accelerator (PCMCIA-friendly) which has 32MB of RAM in it. OS is 3.0. This card is compatible with this driver, it has been checked. I hit the "online" button and it seems to be fine until I try to do any sort of network access. This locks up the Amiga until I remove the PCMCIA card. Card's "Link" light stays stuck in ON or OFF position when hitting "online", no blinking as it should. SOME times it links up fine, but i get nothing to work, the machine doesn't find any other device in the intranet. Any idea of what might be going wrong? Doesn't look like a software issue... if the card's to fault, I got to return it and change it for another one. I couldn't try this in my A600 yet because I need to transfer the drivers by serial and that's a pain in the ass to do ;p Thanks to anyone that might be able to help with this urgent matter (urgent enough for me to come back here and make a post). |

You'd better use a 3X589 pcmcia card, it's less problems. I use one to surf with my A1230@50 mhz / 32 mb of Fast.
hope it will help.... |

@dlfrsilver
Obviously he wants to use wireless... not wired. @Akira I think you need the card reset patches off the aminet. http://www.aminet.net/search.php?query=pcmcia CardPatch.lha or CardReset.lha |

Got CardReset but not CardPatch. I am wondering if the lack of CardPatch is to blame, that's why I wanna try it in my A600 which doesn't have the PCMCIA bug issue.
I'm pulling my hair out here and yes, I'd like to use it wireless. Besides, I cannot seem to find a 3Com card priced -decently-, I got a nice deal for this Wlan card and it's shit that I have to throw it away. But if the card is at fault, I can return it and get a replacement, the guy had many of these. Looking forward to more input. |

You'll have to do some squeezing to get Miami to fit in the 2Meg of an A600... it is possible... but not with MUI! You'll have to use the Gadtools(?) gui. Keep in mind I do not live in the UK or US, so it ends up being expensive for me. I'll have a look anyway, maybe I can score a deal. Thanks for the links!
I already have Miami running in my A600, did "THE SQUEEZE" eons ago when I set up a serial cable SLIP connection between the 600 and my linux box |
