Project-X DOS version

I just got a hold on the MS-DOS version of this Amiga classic.
It's not half bad as I thought the DOS port would be.
If anybody want it I could up it to the zone.

[edit]
Zoned.

Yeah, Team 17s PC port aren't that shabby. Superfrog isn't that bad of a port either but the Amiga version is of course better.

No doubt about the Amiga version is better.
Btw I had some trouble getting the zoned version to work properly in DOSXbox (Xbox port).
But I have another version that do work in DOSXbox.
I zone that just in case.
Btw Overdrive isn't that bad either.

Found yet another great Team17 DOS game.
World Rally Fever, reminds me of Powerdrift.
Works with DOSBox 0.71, couldn't get it to work in DOSXbox.

one that comes in mind is Apogee's Realms of Chaos...

There sure is.
I actually dug up Super Star Wars too, I had totally forgotten that existed for PC.
A very nice SNES conversion.

Wasn't that port canceled?

Where did you get it from?

Just downloaded it (from UDs) and gave it a try with DOSBox. Sounded great, but once I got into the game it looked like I was getting massive frameskips though the counter said frameskip 0. Not sure what was going on there, maybe the default DOSBox setting wasn't right for this game. I hope it's not supposed to be that jerky.

Tried Project X too- is there supposed to be no music?

DosBox' automatic core and cycles detection fails with the game, use "core=dynamic" and "cycles=20000" instead and the game will run smoothly.

That did it, thanks. This game is fast and furious, that's for sure. I'll have to fire up the SNES version for comparison.

Oh, and never mind the Project X question. I got music by overriding the sound setting with the G setting (for Gravis Ultrasound). I suppose I could have run the sound settings program for similar effect.

Qun Mang,

tru reducing cycle count (Ctrl + F11 if I remember correctly), as at 20K game might run a bit too fast.

DamienD, thank you sir! You're so kind!

The game can not run too fast, as it's timer-based. It always runs at the same speed, just with more or less frames.

Well, considering the liberal amount of health dropped by the enemies, fast and furious is probably correct. The SNES version seems just as fast, but enemies seem to be fewer.
