3c589 no light on switch
Hi folks!
I'm trying to figure out if my 3c589D is bad (using A1200 and MiamiDX). When I fire up MiamiDX, and configure the card / select online, the green light on the dongle turns off (green light is on until i select "online"). However, the light on my switch never turns on - as if the card isn't able to establish a link with the switch (perhaps a bad dongle/cable). I know that my PCMCIA port is good as i'm able to use compact flash storage via that port. I also *think* the card electronics are good as MiamiDX is at least able to initialize it and cause the green light to go out. I'm assuming though I have more than a software problem if I can't get a light on my switch? (I have tried several ports on the switch, and i've verified they're all good with other computers). For testing purposes i'm using a fixed IP address as DHCP fails obviously.. Thanks, John |

The card must be matched with the right dongle. You can't mix and match 3Com cards and dongles.
