Question Physical Retro Shops? (UK)

Hi Guys,

Just interested to know if and where there are physical retro / old school computer /gaming shops in the UK?

Here in Perth we have a splattering of retro shops and actually, the prices are not too bad.

If you know of a good one in the UK maybe list it here?

Giving details of....

Location (including county):
What they stock:

It's not the UK, but there's a pretty decent retro shop in Dublin called The RAGE. They've a huge selection of retro console games and machines, and occasionally have things like C64s and Spectrums, but I've never seen anything Amiga in there.

I've been there myself. Reasonably priced but not dirt cheap, though potential for bargains is possible if you are lucky.

Ah of course. Wasn't even thinking about CEX but yes they are great and again, prices seem extremely good most of the time.

Every trip back I catch up with one of my mates for a "gaming day" and we always start with a trip to CEX to pick something up.

We used to play N64 together, and then PS2 back in the day. So these days it's generally a spot of "Golden Eye Reloaded" to have the best of Nostalgia, but with HD graphics for our aging eyes lol.

Difficult because the rent and upkeep of such shops would be hard to maintain.

As per one of the comments, the cost of the consoles is quite high from such providers, but the added caveat is exclusivity of items and rental costs need to be factored in.

This is probably why you will have more success looking on online sites e.g. eBay, Gumtree etc for your console needs, when joe-public will be willing to sell off their attic contents!

Yep. ebay can be a challenge in itself. Many items are already in the hands of the re-seller looking to make a profit (fair enough IF they're done a resto job, but other wise it's just a cash grab), but that does make some of the harder to find packs/items easier to locate at least. It's a service of sorts I guess.

But....because of the resellers, even the genuine loft finds are contested because you are bidding against.....yep....resellers.

But that's a whole other topic really.

The retro and traditional computer stores ARE out there, so this is more just a question of "list them if you know them" rather than discuss the economic viability of them existing at all

I'm "trying" my best to support the traditional stores, both modern and retro. Of course if they're taking the proverbial in pricing, then I shouldn't feel obliged.

The Wii version of GoldenEye is actually pretty excellent in its own right. I played it a fair bit online, and it still regularly comes out for some fun local 4-player action.

You worked on it? REALLY?

What did you do? That's awesome! Would LOVE to hear more.

See while N64 Golden Eye is my early adulthood and great memories, we introduced our kids to Golden Eye of course through the Wii version, and more recently, Re-loaded on the Xbox360 (just HAD to get it after playing it on my mates PS3 in the UK).

It's one of those games we play as a family. And even now we'll crack it out (more Reloaded now).

Fantastic games imho, and took the legacy of the N64 version and just made it much much better.

I recently re-boxed our Wii version, complete with golden pro controller, just to keep everything together

Playnation in Croydon used to be quite good, then moved and set up own arcade (good) but shop not so good

Went the other day and it was closed - may have moved?

Game on seems a bit expensive compared to Playnation and CEX and is quite limited. haven't ever seen Amiga or ST stuff but maybe I just didn't see it?
