A1200 expansion port "riser" question
I've seen photos of towered amigas using some form of an adapter to bring their expansions away from the walls of the tower case by a little bit.
i'm just wondering by how much do they lift it? i'm getting sick of standing my wedge on stilts for the fans of my oc'd bppc and wonder if i could raise it deeper into the case with some keyboard backplate cutting for extra room. |

even if you had one(ive never seen one mind you)theres little or no room in a 1200 desktop case as it is for it to go upwards.
i know theres passthrough adaptors in towers but that wouldnt work in a desktop. ive seen a couple of peaple put expanded 1200's inside 500 cases plenty of room inside one of those, although its not for everyone. purests being one i suppose. |

you forget i like the challenge of packing lots of stuff into my wedge it's like a tardis... i'm always finding more room for something or another
5mm increase in height means i can do something swanky at the trapdoor |

there's about 3mm at the worst point so cutting the keyboard backplate will be a must.
raising the mobo is a no-no due to the fastata being a hair's breadth from touching the backplate. although i could cut that too. |

hehe, yeah. anything needing mods on that side of the miggy scares the crap out of me.... that small piece of plastic and chips attached to the expansion port is worth more than a good car, or a new gaming PC!

From the outset my desktop A1200 was put together with no modification to the case whatsoever.
Part of the art of getting lots of component(s) in a desktop is reduce wire(s) to increase airflow. A blower maybe needed to blow hot air out of the A1200 original vents at the front of the case with original trapdoor cover in place. No modification to A1200 case, trapdoor cover or it's feet. Here there are lots of devices connected all working but theres no cable to connect. Indivision, bvision, fastata mk3,extra power feed no visible cable. Floppy drive will have no cable Note: 3 of the above devices are already cableless and are working. Direct plug-in & play or is integrated. Last edited by delshay; 06 June 2012 at 07:43. |
