I never understood joysticks like this. The fire button might have been alright for some games, but a shooting game would have been impossible.
By far the worst joystick I have ever used was Atari 2600jr: |

But absolutely worst joystick I've had is The Boss. The first joystick I ever got... It's just unbelievably unaccurate with its big movement, rotating stick (you never know where it points) and only one clumsy button on the top of the joystick. Absolutely horrible. Avoid this: And heh... don't believe what this tells: http://www.atariguide.com/10/1003.php Last edited by jPV; 05 February 2013 at 19:09. |

The Boss was my first joystick too and I quite liked it.
Many hours was spent playing Ghosts 'n' Goblins on my breadbin using that. Worst joystick: Easy, anything by Quickshot. |

The Cruiser was the best Amiga joystick I ever owned. Just perfect! (I still have it, actually.) The CD32 Gamepad was the worst... by a mile. Nobody has mentioned it, but I bought a Bug as my second joystick on Amiga Power's recommendation, and I HATED it. Diagonals were absolutely impossible to pull off. (Maybe mine was defective?) |

Unless there's time travellers amongst us that youre aware of, or people who were playing video games with 9 pin joysticks in the 19th centuary it doesnt quite seem worth pointing out Back on topic though, my vote would have to go for the Speek King. Awkward as all heck for pretty much anything but a joystick waggler type game. I have a sneaking suspicion that I mightve voted to those TI/99 sticks someone else posted about earlier though if Id ever used one As for the cd32 joypad I almost really like them. If it wasnt for the flimsy feel and the weak rubber in the d-pad they'd have been one of my all time favorite joypads. Theyre so much more comfortable and less hand cramping than things like a competition pro (typically Im not a big joypad fan (although I love the xbox360 pads almost as much as Nintendo appears to (anyone who has seen or played a Wii U will understand the reference))). Any joystick with only one firebutton, or any joystick with several trillion firebuttons all inexplicably wired together as though they were one.

I've still got one of these plugged into my c64, one of my favourite joysticks ever. I never bought one, one came with my Amiga when I bought that (new) and whenever it broke I used to ride my bike to their offices as they where based 3-4 miles away, and get a new one, Used to break after about 364 days (depending on the weather) and I'd ride up and get another one. |
