amimsx

Hi guys,
why not trying to make slave to run amimsx (msx emulator) ?
Perhaps it's even possible with whdload to make start the msx game without the need to set the emulator.
finally the amiga could have metal gear or nemesis (gradius), etc...
I know you would prefer a straight port but sadly it won't happen soon, but who knows.

Some aren't satisified until they can run an MSX game inside an MSX emulator under a virtualised Workbench under WHDload on an emulated Amiga in a Linux docker inside a VirtualBox VM under MacOS.

It would be interesting to have standalone versions of some games, as long as they would run full speed on a normal setup, lets say a 68020 accelerator and some memory.

Yes, translating the games in advance to make them run on slower hardware is a neat trick, but only one emulator (translator?) used it on the Amiga - Electrostatic http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/Electrostatic

From the readme:

Quote:
Electrostatic emulates fewer games than V2600 or Stella, but is usually
several times faster.
It gave proper Atari 2600 emulation even on slower hardware. I have translated and uploaded three Atari 2600 games to Aminet around 15-16 years ago:

Skeleton - http://aminet.net/game/misc/Skeleton.lha
Vault Assault - http://aminet.net/game/misc/VaultAssault.lha
Warring Worms - http://aminet.net/game/misc/WarringWorms.lha

For the other games that I have successfully translated, I didn't own rights to upload to Aminet, as they are commercial.

Bonus - some demos
http://aminet.net/demo/euro/Atari2600Demos.lha

Unfortunately, Neil Cafferkey didn't receive much feedback for his translator, so he stopped developing it, leaving it with many unsupported features of the Atari 2600, so many games don't work at all, especially the ones that use mid-frame collision reading.
