CF DH1 works in WinUAE but not on real Amiga

Hello,

I wasn't sure if this went here or in others or hardware, sorry if this is the wrong place.
So I have a 16gb CF card, originally I installed ClassicWB 3.1 ADV on it, put it in my Amiga and it worked just fine, except it refused to play any WHDload games, so I plopped it back into WinUAE, and they still didn't work. So I did a fresh reinstall, but I decided to use ClassicWB 3.9, took a while to get the install to work, but it did! So I grabbed the CF card and put it back into the Amiga, worked! except now DH1 (a 14GB partition) is now DH1:NDOS and is refuses to mount, so I double checked the scsi.device, made sure it was skipping the BoingBag 3 ROM patch for the scsi.device. No joy. So I decided maybe it was an issue with 3.9+CF+Amiga, so I once again reinstalled ClassicWB 3.1, works fine. Again except for DH1, which still shows up as DH1:NDOS. I have no idea what the freak is going on!

I don't get it, everything is the same, it works in winuae but not on my real Amiga 1200. I load it as a Commodore IDE, set the same ROM, skip SCSI patches. I even tried with an old 3.0 ROM set I had laying around.

Once on the Amiga and once on WinUAE.

Might be that your USB card reader reports a different size than the real IDE controller.

In any case you'll probably have to reinstall DH1 with a different size, so you shouldn't put too much work into filling it with data before you know that it works properly.

I generally make sure my partitions are no bigger than 2-3 GB.

Huh, you're right, changed it out and it works. I hadn't thought of checking it because I am certain this is the one I used when it worked before.

confused2 Registered User Join Date: Jul 2018 Location: Maryland, United States Posts: 21	CF DH1 works in WinUAE but not on real Amiga Hello, I wasn't sure if this went here or in others or hardware, sorry if this is the wrong place. So I have a 16gb CF card, originally I installed ClassicWB 3.1 ADV on it, put it in my Amiga and it worked just fine, except it refused to play any WHDload games, so I plopped it back into WinUAE, and they still didn't work. So I did a fresh reinstall, but I decided to use ClassicWB 3.9, took a while to get the install to work, but it did! So I grabbed the CF card and put it back into the Amiga, worked! except now DH1 (a 14GB partition) is now DH1:NDOS and is refuses to mount, so I double checked the scsi.device, made sure it was skipping the BoingBag 3 ROM patch for the scsi.device. No joy. So I decided maybe it was an issue with 3.9+CF+Amiga, so I once again reinstalled ClassicWB 3.1, works fine. Again except for DH1, which still shows up as DH1:NDOS. I have no idea what the freak is going on! I don't get it, everything is the same, it works in winuae but not on my real Amiga 1200. I load it as a Commodore IDE, set the same ROM, skip SCSI patches. I even tried with an old 3.0 ROM set I had laying around.

thomas Registered User Join Date: Jan 2002 Location: Germany Posts: 6,987	Please run this: http://thomas-rapp.homepage.t-online.../hddreport.lha Once on the Amiga and once on WinUAE. Might be that your USB card reader reports a different size than the real IDE controller. In any case you'll probably have to reinstall DH1 with a different size, so you shouldn't put too much work into filling it with data before you know that it works properly.
