Elf (MicroValue)

Heya guys,

This was one of the first games I played on the Amiga: Elf (MicroValue)

Yeah it's not great and insanely difficult

...but for some reason, it holds a certain nostalgia

Found this YouTube video:

I wonder if anyone has actually managed to finish this?

I have. I remember because I had to go back and center all of the HOL pictures to keep Cody J. from having to do it.

Yeah, I can see the final picture on HOL:

...you've completed this clenched?

There are no cheats (only level codes), plus no trained versions available

Yes. There are more colorful, nicer graphics, smoother scrolling games but this one had some intangible quality. (I.E. it didn't bore me). Cheating consisted of many savestates and the benefit of a map once a level was reached.

I have the same views of you on this game. The low FPS reminds me of Vixen's low FPS lol. Unfortunately like many games the difficulty seemed to ruin my experience with it.

Trained MV Elf from SPS disk.

Available keys:
F1 - Simultaneously reset master clock to 24 hours and stopwatch to 60 seconds ("TheGame" map). Since doors and elevators run by the clock it shouldn't be frozen entirely.
F2 - (Toggle) (dis)allow food and life depletion. Both can be added to.
F3 - (Toggle) Load all weapons/spells with 4 and hold there.
F4 - Increase dice count by 13 (up one tier in "TheGame")

* I had best results using A500, KS1.2, 1 Drive. KS 1.3 worked after some coaxing. KS 2 never worked.
** F2 is best used early. If food drops too low then messages keep popping up. If lives drop to 1 before F2 then next death reports game over. Game continues however.
*** Manual dice is capped at 104 then wraps to 0. If more are picked up normally such that count exceeds 116 then elf will be placed off map with unpredictable outcome.

Thank you kindly for this clenched

I've modified your .ADF slightly so that the following text is displayed for 15 seconds before loading the game... but I had to cut the first * information as there just wasn't enough space:

That was a good attempt but a wrong conclusion drawn at the very end. The player says in comments:
Quote:
Wish I'd seen some end to this horrible thing. Thanks for the support. I did actually find a "Snakes and Ladders" screen in which a Pumpkin piece was found. May be hope yet...
so I will concede that one. However, the other half won't appear until elf leaves the impregnable Pumpkin tower. He is at the right door but there is a secret way (no cheat or trick) of getting through.

If Sanctum is finally reached, player is by no means home free but there is a chance.

Last three maps on HOL are new. They highlight obstacles, traps, passages ordinarily invisible.

I guess being GM you have attachment space to burn so I got rid of my disk.

The difference being, Vixen was actually a good game.

Not sure about attachment space to burn but...

...I will leave your disk (with my startup text modifcation) in post #9 for anyone that wants this

Thanks again for doing this; it's the only trained version available and something I've wanted for eons

Does anyone have Atari emulator that can play ftp://ftp:any@grandis.nu/Atari/ST/IP...icroValue).zip.
If so can someone convert to another type that can be booted by old Steem? I don't even care if it fully works. Just hold together long enough to make conversion screenshot for HOL.

EDIT: Never mind.
