Troubleshoot my Blizzard 1260/50 (Phase 5)
My Blizzard 1260/50 from Phase 5 crashes my Amiga (desktop model but it doesn't work in tower either) after a couple of seconds of trying to load the OS. A GURU comes up, and it seems to be a consistent error message, so I wrote it up:
68079CA0 I tried running it with and without MAPROM, and with and without SIMM ram. The same SIMM ram that works perfectly in my 1230. Anyone have a clue what it might be, and how I can find out. |

Will have a think... You do have 68060 libs installed?

Yeah, most likely usual wrong/missing 68060.library. If you have OS3.9 (not sure if 3.5 supports it), make sure C:CPU says "68060 68882 (blahblah)". Missing 68882 = 68060.library problem.

This is embarrassing - I completely forgot about the install disk. So I re-inserted the Blizzard 1230 and ran the installation disk. Removed the 1230 and put in the 1260, and now it works flawlessly, I think. I'm using Scalos, from the Classic Workbench FULL package. I have OS3.9 lying around, so I'm not sure which one would be the best one. The status bar (where memory and time is shown), tells me it's a AGA 060 Amiga, but ShowConfig says 68040. This is normal, isn't it? Now, what's your recommendation, 1260 16mb fast vs 1230 32mb fast (which I just found). The 32mb doesn't fit into the 1260, and since it's a desktop I'm not sure I want to take a chance on using a rubberband to keep it in place, like I did in my old tower. |
