Kaillera client 0.9 didn't like my system but it was quite enjoyable despite the lag and we were playing and action game WinUAE Kaillera will be a lot more exciting than any other emulator!

Burseg: About 769
So my 267 ping with the abime server surely will be enough for WinUAE play
The latency here occurs when the data jumps outside Argentina... Latency for the last argentinian server the route goes to is 17ms, from there it jumps to the US (I believe), and it takes about 200ms to do that! :P So I could never get a ping lower than 200.

Damn these shitty banana country lines.

I tried playing Unreal tournament before my ISP went to the new system. I was stuck at between 15 and 3000 in ping. Usually it was the larger numbers.

It's AOL BROADBAND on ADSL modem.

Its 48ms, then 35ms, then 57ms, then 42ms etc. It's different every time I ping abime.net.

Akira did you notice the lag yourself yesterday? I think you only saw me hitting the air, walking aroung doing stupid moves etc. I wonder if lag slows down the server side as well.

No! Sometimes you hit the air but most times you were kicking baddy-ass perfectly! So it was pretty fine, and you had an almost 500ms ping time! It's more difficult with a game like KOF where you have to exactly time your movements, but a progressive beat'em up like The Punisher makes for a great online game

I've played MAME Final Fight over my 56k and it wasn't too slow, just the occasional slow down. Should be good on Miggy I reckon!

My ping is even worse than Burseg's one. 450 ms and 19 hops.

I am fucked, I doubt I'll be able to play any action games.

Shame I won't be able to beat Blackcornflake at Sensi

Anyone for a match of Laser Squad or Worms?

HA, maybe I could try it from the univversity where I work, the connection there is pretty fast, and sometimes I am there just doing nothing. I'll ping abime.net from there and see if it's good or not.

so will there actually be a release at some time in the overseeable future or were we just getting our hopes up?

Sorry for being impatient but I really need someone to play with.

Know that I haven't forgotten about it, it's constantly under development, when I'm not lurking about EAB and IRC, or sleeping, heh.

In it's current state, it has full control support (apart from CD32 pad), it's perfectly usable, some bugs, but still missing one very important feature, and that is config sharing (oh, and disk change support).

I want this next release to be effortless to use and less bugged than the first. Being realistic here, it's going to be at least another month before it is available for beta testing. It will be worth the wait though.

Sounds nice. Configs could be annoying to sync, I remember the first time I tried where I got something like 1 frame every 3 seconds and everything was laggy. I have no idea why though.

New version sounds great. And I'm sure it's easier to see in the future than a stable OS from Microsoft.

[One year later...]

I've tried WinUAE-Kaillera with a friend today and was wondering if the EAB server still exists ?

If so, how to join it ? Do I need to register (as it's private) somewhere specifically ?

well, EAB's server was working last year for testing... but:

1- no secure kaillera server is available
2- no "final" version of winuae-kaillera was coded

so until Christophe Thibault release source or update his code to something more secure, I won't restart the kaillera server
(or gimme a dedicated hardware for it )
