Sorry for no news, been busy doing "wifey" things, unfortunately these don't include programming hehe. They more include awesome things like, cleaning, and housework.
Hopefully I have some time this weekend to get some coding in.

don't worry Vairn: if i'll have some time, i'll complete the decoration stuff in the coming weekend, so no hassle.
(yet please consider the ASCII stuff, if you like)

I did something similar to the ascii a few years ago, where I rendered the scene in3d at a small res, so 80x60, and used that to create a scene of text. hehe, was fun. for a small play around. so I shall look into it.

I have some stuff working on my amiga, unfortunately, it uses SDL atm, but it may be ok speed wise that is, since I will optimise the screen renderer, to only do so when needed. for a small speed boostie hopefully.

I also found a working Warpos GCC version is installed on my Amiga :O. hmm interesting.
I wonder when I set that up.

according to the dates on the files, January 2007.
It still works too, Pretty cool wonder if I will ever use it though. :/ hmm.

No idea if I can compile warp3d, or any of that. I shall have to see if I can set cubic up to use it.

Whats the goal of your project? Your going to create new levels with new graphics?

only one original wallset for EoB 1, which will be either used in the WHDLoad AGA version of the game as a replacement for the graphic only of the first 3 levels, as a test, or/and in Vairn' engine.

the purpose is study only, at this stage.

in fact, i'm looking at the original wallsets, checking how things intersect and works. that's the reason i asked Vairn to cook Uncps.exe.

but after that, provided i will have the time and the energy, i would like to do a different looking RPG game that uses a similar world construction as EoB, as detailed at the start of this thread.

I am still interested, had some real life issues lately, but I don't have as much free time these days. I am still slowly working on my little engine though.

ok well then, i will use a bit of time in january for trying and finish the first level graphics.

but i would need a single image collection of all the interactive graphic of the first 3 level of the original EoB, (drain pipes, bittons, levers) much like those in this thread for the walls, if someone can provide them, to cook up the same things with new visuals.

any help there?

as for the rest, i'm also doing new general purpose character portraits, so far a dozen of them, easily resizable for EoB like games or others.

Please let everybody interested in this project be reminded, that the first, main and lmost single purpose of this thread project is the building of an all new ONE level theme (3 levels like in EoB) demo with completely new graphics for the EoB like engine Vairn is doing to prove that's possible and to use it as basis for future projects.

on my part that means some little cosmetic work on the interface; finishing the level (i would say that i'm past half there); doing 6 monsters from scratch; new portraits (halfway through there too) and finally new items (? on that i'm not so sure that the scope is worth the trouble)

so: level working and monsters are subordinated to Vairn willing to go on (plus the graphic request here above) portraits will go on unrelatedly to that.

@Vairn, that's ok, just let me know when you'll have the time to implement the stuff.

well, i have ideas for other RPGs*, but first i want to demostrate to myself first and then to eventual collaborators, that i can do some good work done
and Vairn project is something i like a lot.

*i would like to tie some different graphic styles to different concepts (from mere dungeon crawling to adventure RPG) to arrive to some scalable game, with the farthest but coveted goal being basically to sell them on portable platforms or pc, thing on which i have no idea whatsoever.

if there are some people willing to collaborate...

i thought you wanted to use / resource the Ishar one, which, for exteriors is more beautiful.
that aside, hey are both copyrighted, but as long as it is not for a commercial project...

I will collect any available tiles first, so I can create whole world with dungeons and so on.
The main area will be outdoor, and there will be entrances to cities / dungeons and other areas. (like oblivion) currently I am working on main plot

slowly progressing...

Vairn, i have some question.

given that:

all the different graphics inside "the level*.imageexstension", in this case brick*.bmp, are positioned to be used in the original game (i.e. heir coordinates are utilized in the game engine)

and therefore:

i need to respect them positions if the files produced are to be used in an eventual original game tweak,

then:

- does your (Vairn') game engine use the same exact graphic positioning?
- do you have instead the graphic separated one object in is own *.pgn file (for instance)

- i guess that each level in the original EoB was different from the other, so the buttons, carving etc, had each a different coordinate, and not one recurring in all the levels files
for, let say, "door button"

in that case, how do you propose to accord the positioning of the graphics in the new resources? i mean, whatever i do imagine for a given level, you need to know what it is and where it goes.

so let me know what you think, with no hurry, there's still some week of work to do here
