ROMs?
Apologies if this is a stupid question, but why does WHDLoad require Kickstart ROMS in the first place?
I've setup WHDLoad on my Amiga A600, I didn't have the ROMS which I later read in a guide should be copied to: DEVS:Kickstarts So just wondering what they're required for and how am I able to to run WHDLoad without them? |

You want to run a different kickstart for compability ... Just install them and off you go

If a game requires Kickstart 1.3 and you're running WHDLoad on an A1200 the game may not work. WHDLoad just loads up the appropriate kickstart for the game from file and leaves it at that. WHDLoad runs independently from the OS also.

I love WHDLoad. In fact, when I look at other retro platforms, one of the first things I try to figure out is if there's an equivalent to WHDLoad :P
If I could have my way, my pie in the sky, I would want to see if it would ever be possible for WHDLoad to promote screens to RTG somehow. That would be amazing. |

It would probably be possible for games using OS through kickstart emulation with some fixing, but for the majority of games using hardware banging how to promote to RTG? Except if you run UAE on pistorm?
What a about copperlists & hardware sprites? Note: whdload doesn't need ROMs for all games. Only a small fraction requires it. If it's required, it is mentioned in the install readme file. |

@pixie I haven't heard of the framethrower - I tried googling and didn't come up with much. Is there more info somewhere?

Do these exist:
kick37175.A500.PAT kick39106.A1200.PAT kick40063.A600.PAT I have the RTM version but can't find the .PAT extension of the above? For all other ROMs I have the 3 versions. |
