This arrived at the post office the other day...

Soooo I'm building my own arcarde style controller, with real nice Seimitsu gear(ordered som spare parts as well)! What are the joystick connectors/cables for the Amiga joystick interface called, is it 9pin D-Sub as these?:

Anyone here who has a good idea for fixing the cables in the joystick housing? Will be drilling a hole in a Aluminum case, so is there an easy way to fix the cable so it won't move around in the hole.

This joystick will also work with my NES as that is also is in desperate need of a good arcade stick!

Now of to find a nice housing for this thing!

Take a look at mine

It's unfinished, but It will be mounted on a wood box.

Nice one! You chose female connector, any reason for that? Is it a Amiga CD32 compatible joystick? What brand of stick and buttons did you opt for? Many questions, I know :-D

Nice one aswell, but I'm gonna put the connector inside the box. Need to do that as I know that if I let some my mates play that connector on the outside would accidentaly snap

What's a Jiffy box?

Buuut the original question still remains, is the connection 9pin D-Sub?

Seing that you are using plexi as a top, couldn't you have mounted the stick on the box lid instead? Then you wouldn't have needed those screw holes through the plexi...

Its just a general purpose box that comes in various sizes, with 4 screw columns inside. I just used a 9pin female d connector because I had an old joystick extension cable and I didnt want to butcher it so I thought I would use it as is.

Yes, I did. I chose a female connector because I use a standard db9 male to db9 female extender cable.

Yes, It is. I've designed and built the controller board, and It works great as CD32 controller in six and two buttons modes. Sweet for fighting and shoot'em up games

I don't know. I bought them on ebay from an arcade spare parts supplier.
