All I can remember is the intro from when I was a little kid, I would love to find this game again. I remember being scared of it, for some reason. In the intro, there was this goop or something pouring into the city and in the main game you had a limited time to escape before it covers the city. I think.

Yes. It was the only computer system I had growing up.

Must say that I'd like to think that I know quite a lot of Amiga games but from your description, absolutely nothing comes to mind (be it commercial or public domain)

...that's not to say that it's not an Amiga game, might be difficult though as it does seem quite obscure.

If you can remember anything else that would help

I'm trying to remember. My father had a massive collection, way too many too remember. It might have come in a golden box too, I know he had several of those. The goop was coming from a nearby pipe, i think it was purple too. I think a news broadcaster may have been doing a report on it?

Tried Google'ing numerous / different text parts from your description and absolutely nothing; and I mean nothing.

Can you possibly ask your Dad; maybe he still has that "golden box" tucked away somewhere? Given this, it must be a commercial release I'd imagine if it came in a box as opposed to some copied / hand-written disk label...

Nope. You control some character and you were given some objectives. It was top down, like xcom.

It was in the game. It was in the intro coming out of some sewage pipe. As you played the game it slowly covered the town you were in, if you were slow it would swallow the town and you.
