I never played a Turrican game..
I owned an Amiga 500 between 1988-1994 and somehow never played a Turrican game until now..
Now that I have both WinUAEX and my A500 set up, should I start with Turrican or just go for Turrican II? And don't you wish you were me? |

Turrican II is the best of the trilogy, but other two are also worth playing.

T2 is the best one. But I would play and finish Part 1 first. Enjoy, turn up the volume.

I used to return from the school and play Turrican marathon. I-II-III in one run.

Yet I'd love to try and do all three again now. While everyone was doing school work at school. I was graffiting my pencil case with amiga games. Turrican. Shadow of the Beast. Dungeon Master. Xenon2. Lotus. I should of kept the pencil case lol |

I think Youtube user JimPlaysGames recorded his first contact with Turrican 1 or 2.

Turrican 2 is more open, more geared towards exploration.
Turrican 3 is more linear, more focused experience. I really think Turrican 3 is more refined, more polished and plays a lot better than Turrican 2. But I also know I am nearly alone on this. |

Why would you spoil yourself with part 2 or 3 before part 1 if you've never played any of them?

I always found them too hard. Never got off the first level in I or II. I really miss autofire in those games.

I do agree with John that Turrican on Amiga is bit harder than C64 Version! |

Yes, Mega Turrican is Turrican 3 for Mega Drive. More details and colors.

Turrican is a classic game series and as such classic rules of gaming apply. If you want to pick a best - choose the one that you want to play and finish first, because that is probably going to be the one that you consider the best of the three.
Be sure to put the volume higher the first time you boot them up! (for me it was Turrican 2, and both T1 and T3 could not ever entertain me in the same way). |

I liked the first Turrican the best. What an amazing, arcade quality shooter.

By skipping Turrican 1 you will never see jetpack level and one silly crack where you can not exit level.

I would go for T2 first. That's really the best Turrican there is.
The laser weapon in part 1 is imho crap and in part 3 they replaced the surround weapon with a rope that you may need 3 or 4 times in the whole game. Without a 2 button pad it is a real pain to controll it. But part 3 offers autofire as an option and you can set jump to the second button, too. Away from these flaws you should play 'em all. |
