Ask the developer if you really want to know. As far as read until now there is no game, just art/animation/....

Throughout the last few months we've been keeping you informed as much as possible regarding the work in progress enhancement of Barbarian that is being worked on by Ten Shu, Colin Vella and Simone Bernacchia. Well after a number of write ups in regards to this fantastic one to two player game with a barbarian facing off with each other waiting to chop a head off or two. Colin has since announced not only new screenshots but a new decapitation video from their upcoming enhancement 'Barbarian+'.

It's looking really nice. Hope the developer adds support for CD32 controllers as well. I remember playing Barbarian on the C64!

Barbarian+ - Female warrior added to the upcoming enhanced version of a classic

Quote:
Has just been teased again but this time with a new video showing a female warrior added to the game. For those that missed any previous announcements they are also working on a Warrior type, skin and kit colour selection, gore option menu.

Great! I always play a female character, where possible. And that background squirrell is nice (but a but too frequent, though)!

Love it! It's always nice to see female protagonists and their armour in games.

I am not sure if it was already said, but will this game have a normal 1p mode against computer AI warrior?

Good luck!
Indeed good luck.
And as you say, the issue here is reproducing the gameplay of the original and this is usually much more difficult than reproducing the technical aspects of it: every coder can move BOBs around with a bit of practice but proper collisions, timings, animation rhythm and sequence is the hard part which requires a lot of tweaking well after the game is technically done.

AMOS is perfectly capable of handling a game like Barbarian, there are only two not-even-that-big blitter objects to move around in the forefront and a few background animations and the game logic is fairly simple.

If this ends up needing a 68020+2MB chip to do what the original does on a 512KB machine, then yeah we have a problem.
Absolutely.

Yup, once again, reproducing all the subtleties of the gameplay is way trickier than moving sprites around in AMOS.
Before the graphics, this is where their focus should be.
