How to test pico psu w/ multimeter & A600?

Hey everyone.

I have four A600 boards in various states of cap leakage/distorted sound/lifted pads/etc. In the past I always just used another board until it stopped working in fear that I'll have to do the BIG repair (switch caps). Well, the time has come to bite the bullet.

I'm all out of working boards and I'm bored because I'm not working!

So I decided to troubleshoot the first Amiga which is running on a pico psu. The audio is distorted but I do not see any leakage/smell anything unusual so I thought it was the pico psu. I just soldered the new psu in but I'm still getting the distorted sound.

Here's my question: How would I test to see if it's the pico psu with a multimeter if it's soldered directly to the board? I know nothing about multimeters and would hate to kill myself on the first attempt.

I feel like I can save quite a few boards in my possession if I knew how to test for the culprit. I can and will post updates as I progress!

Oh please help me.

You will not kill yourself.

Also, if you are not confident enough to do the easy capacitors swapping, then ask one friend/TV_shop_repairsman to do it.

Capacitor swapping is not easy when you lift pads; I'm confident, just something of a procrastinator.

How do I test the pico psu with a multimeter if it's soldered directly?
