joystick / mouse leads

with a recent relocation of my amiga i find that the mouse and joystick don`t quite reach to where i want em .. i`ve seen a mouse port extender lead advertised somewhere but can i use one of these to extend the joystick port also ? .. or are they wired differently or something ?

regards

Well, I actually don't really know about the exact wirings,
but I remember that I bought some Extension Cables a
couple of years ago and they worked with both Joystick
and Mouse.
I think this should mean they are wired similary (?)

Most cables will be ok, just try it, you can't damage anything

or you make up your own, just 1 male & 1 female 9 pin IDC connector and a bit of ribbon cable (they also work as video extension leads for my 8833-II)...
