Exclamation Pfs/sfs/sms/pmt/abc/bbc/ddt/ici/b&q/bbq

Can someone with an IQ of above 10 (i.e higher than me ) please explain how I install my 8gig HD to use WB3.1. I have 3.1 ROMs and a A1200, and a old 8 gig IDE drive.

I've heard of PFS/SFS.

I've done some searches on here but it's far to technical for a lazy person like me - I just need a 1,2,3 - this is how you do it kinda thing, or a webpage link

I don't mind installing everything from scratch, as all I have on my old HD is WB3.1 anyway at the moment !

TIA

Well, PFS and SFS are both FileSystems that are

a) faster than the FFS that comes with AmigaOS
b) more stable

While PFS is a commercial Product and still being sold, SFS is Freeware and also recommended by me You should also have no probs with your 8gigz HD when using SFS

Thanks Retroman for answering half the question.

Now how do I get these little beauties on my Miggy and the Miggy recognising the 3.5 incher I'm gonna put inside her

I would be able to do it myself, and work it out myself.

But it's me brain. I got a bit of shrapnel stuck in it at Dresden.

I used PFS 3 on my Amiga when I had it.. so I can reccomend it

Not used SFS but have heard good things about it..

Setting up with HD toolbox is a doddle once you are accustomed to doing that sort of thing (Can be confusing though!!)

Please note: you must not use SFS Version 1.88 or higher with OS3.1. Direct-SCSI support which is needed for large hard drives under OS3.1 has been removed in this version. Use Version 1.84 from the old web page instead.
