Donations & Contributions to Pauls memory

Right folks, heres whats happening so far.

I have been in contact with Pauls mum, and she tells me that Monday is when she will get the Funeral details (i.e. when the date of the burial will be)

Because Pauls death was natural, this means that his funeral is going to be sooner rather than later, so in consultation with some other members, its is IMPERATIVE that the wreath from EAB members is done ASAP and needs to be with Pauls parents before Wednesday if possible.

Please contribute as much or as little as you can, but please only contribute what you know you can afford and WILL donate.

We will add a list to this thread with contributions pledged so far.

1. Galahad - £20
2. DamienD - £20
3. Keropi - €25
4. Retro Nerd - €10
5. Cody -£20

just one Q... if we gather lotsa money, will they all be spent for the wreath? because up to a certain point, there is no logic in spending 200+ eur on a wreath! how much those things cost there anyway? maybe we can donate the extra money somewhere?

bippy made the suggestion that any extra money should go to Pauls parents so they can spend it as they see fit, which I agree with.

Ok, here's what I think we should do guys:

... Myself and Galahad should take care of this.
... I've said to Galahad that I don't mind paying out immediately and then people can contribute their donations later as we need to get this sorted ASAP.
... We just need to decide on how much to spend as I don't have a clue how much a "more than decent wreath" is worth?
... I can then transfer however much money into Galahad's account or vice-versa and we will get the wreath organised / send by Wednesday.

Now this is just an idea so bear with me; if we were to say spend £500 I don't mind taking care of the intial outlay. People could then contribute whatever they are comfortable with.

If after all the donations we have more money that what I initially spent we could donate the extra money to the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy foundation or something else for Paul.

What do you all think?

We really just need one person to take hold of the reins...

I don't mind taking care of this if everyone is ok with that?

I'm happy for you to take care of it all Damien. Will it be through PayPal? Very nice gesture.

Whatever the total funds raised are then I think it would be brilliant to be split between what was discussed on IRC last night:

Quote:
1) Donating to the cause of which Paul suffered from.
2) Setting up a "Green Alien" foundation to help people who suffer from the same thing.
3) Setting up a living memorial.
4) Donating to a PayPal account in order to provide something beneficial to either Paul's family or the cause.
..... and without a doubt, the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy foundation too.

My contribution - £10 please.

I think that would be a great idea. Today people with Duchenne can live longer than 10 years ago, but their is still much to be done, so I think the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy foundation could help other people with the same disease as Paul, have a better and longer life.

Right, then we are set

Now we need to decide on:

1) What's a good amount to initially spend on the wreath?
2) What to write?

I will take care of the initial outlay (whatever it is we decide on)

Retro-Nerd posted a good site on IRC for ideas:

DamienD you have my support.

As for amounts, let's see what is raised between now and monday morning, and that will give an idea of how much we can spend on a wreathe.

I will give a guaranteed £10 maybe more but wont know initially.

and i think is nice

As i told to DamienD, i would write something like this.

Quote:
We, the whole EAB Community, are shocked and in deepest sorrow to lost our beloved friend Paul. He was one of the nicest guys we've ever known, always on the bright side of life. We will miss you forever, Paul. Thanks for visting our planet, Green Amiga Alien. Rest in peace, wherever you are.
