lol akira u really do scare me
i personally think the amiga demo compo at this years BP was even better than last year and yes i allso think eludes demo deserved its 1st place, it may be all 3d scenes, but they are very well executed imho. i especially liked the tunnel with the light flying through casting shadows on the walls, that looked super awesome. i must admit though, that i haven't checked it out yet on me own miggy, so the speed may be different in real life :P
my personal favorite in the demo compo though, have to be tulou's little sea adventure, really nice flow, really nicely executed scenes and a spot on style and i was surprised it didn't rank higher
biggest surprise though was ozone, i was just jumping around like a little puppy here when i saw the "fetish2 by ozone" , hell yea allways luved ozone stuff and my jaw dropped to the floor when i saw them back at least for one more ride, hope they stay a little longer
lastly it's a little sad that blueberry didn't get any competition in the 4k compo(stingray), but tbh his entry this year was just absolutely awesome, i am allways excited to see what he pulls off when he does his 4k magic, such a talented guy and truely amazing what this man can make an amiga do within such a limited size and by far the best amiga prod released at the party, at least that's what i think
end of textwall, cya guys

Ah thanks

EDIT: Am I wrong in thinking that the video and audio is all contained in just 4096 bytes?

Actually, the code is nothing special in that demo (and even Britez0r will agree on that! ;D) but it still is entertaining to watch. Just proves that you don't need advanced effects (there are none in the whole demo) to make a good demo!

I couldn't agree more, I totally didn't expect Blueberry to make an intro like that, awesome piece of work.

Yeah, right.... Which is why you watch Amiga demos... Nothing more to say, really. Demoscene is about having fun and creating demos, if they feature old effects or new effects doesn't matter, there's an audience for each kind of demos.

It's called 4k intro for a reason you know.

Yeah, 4k compo was a bit disappointing, I agree. As for me, I didn't have much time for serious demo coding the last weeks/months but Blueberry will get competition again, you can be sure of that.

loved the metropolis tune...

shame they dont create demos that run on the basic AGA model, if i wanted full on 1080p, procedural generated demos then i would watch a PC/Mac demo... to me AGA should mean AGA not AGA+accelerator+64mb FastRam+Etc+Etc...

maybe not everyone agrees with this but, demos are about creativity with restraint, the Amiga was great for the demoscene by the fact the hardware forced coders to be talented, to squeeze as much as possible out of 2mb chipram... that impresses me just as much as the effects and design

like debris impresses me

the stuff these guys do never ceases to amaze me ... last year they had 4k entries in both PC and Amiga, and they would have won both if it was not for the elevated ... actually I think their pc 4k was just as good as the elevated IMHO

well djay, i personally want the a500 with a 512k expansion back as the number one (amiga)demo's machine, for several reasons, it's easy to come by, the ram expansion is easy to come by aswell, it doesnt cost the downpayment of a house, i think it's fairly restricted work terms for clever guys like stingray and instant floppy loading from the moment u slam in the disk till the demo ends, blured with cleverly masked loading times......oh no i feel akira's staring eyes on me now , since it could sound abit nostalgic, but some of the reasons up there is allso what i think is so awesome about the c64 demos, but that doesnt mean i dont love what i see on my 060,though a little less 3d flybyes would be nice

Love the Metropolice demo. So when they say "Amiga Demo" are they meaning m68k or PPC Amiga's?

The competition machine is an A1200, 68060/66Mhz with 64MB RAM and OS 3.1, with latest AHI installed, latest phase5/DCE 68060.library and SetPatch v43.6.
No PPC Amiga entries
here! We decided not to allow PPC entries because all major "post-68k" Amiga variants are either discontinued or not quite there yet. We do have Pegasos/AmigaOne hardware and accept entries for them in the Console/Real wild compo. Please contact us in advance if you plan to do so.

I think there were no compo machines with a PPC board, so it is 68k. It's been sometime since a PPC demo was released I think ...

The 4K by Loonies was DEFNITELY the most impressive bit of demo at BP this year, and I agree, the competition was a lot better than last year, a lot more entries! That makes me happy.

But I had as much of Elude as I had of Farbrausch and their 3DS flyby stuff.
I need more concept, man.

Remember MELON DEZIGN?

indeed Farbrausch has hit a brick wall when it comes to creativity... however their procedural math is top notch

yeah, apart from the chocolate shopping trip the Loonies 4k was most impressive thing this year...
