A500+ battery leak - is it salvageable?
Hi everyone,
Just looking for some advice - I got my a500+ back very recently and after reading about the battery situation I've cracked it open and pulled it It's done a bit of damage in there - from the attached pic is the motherboard capable of being rescued? What would be the best way to clean it if so? Many thanks, Owen |

That doesn't look too bad. Mop up the residue with some rubbing alcohol and q-tips/cotton buds. Make sure to get all the legs of the chip at U12, as well as Gary, and the area in between. Check the underside of the board, too.
If there is circuit damage, a few people here should be able to fix it for you. |

The Gary socket might need to be replaced, but if it's still working now with that damage it might be fine with a clean up. Before cleaning it with alcohol, use some lemon juice or vinegar to neutralise the leakage, then plenty of 99% isopropanol to wash the area. A soft toothbrush is also useful for cleaning around the legs of components.

Given that there is no corrosion on the RAM expansion pins, it should be easily fixed.
