Video problem
I've had this prob for quite a few weeks and I couldn't figure out a way to fix it. It seems like laced screenmodes are gone, I can no longer see them but everything else works ok. I'm hoping it's something OS-related and not damaged hardware
Any hint?. Thanks in advance. Plain A1200 (PAL). |

Heys Hobbe,
Welcome to the EAB, i am sure you will like it here... To test if its an OS-related errror, simply boot up DarkSeed as this opens a Hires-laced screen you will know stiaght away.... |

Thanks for both welcome and help. Fortunately the test worked and I got a laced screen . Guess I'll have to format and reinstall the OS unless I can do something about this (it was about time anyways, it's been running flawlessy since 1997).
Now the challenge will be backing up the whole thing, I have documents and paintings I'd hate to lose. Also, there's software I no longer have healthy installation disks for, but I guess it shouldn't be much of an odyssey considering the enormous amount of resources available on the internet today. |

@hobbe
backing up once in a while is a GOOD thing and something to lookforward too, but before you re-install there is another option. if you copy the monitor drivers from your original workbench disks and overwrite those on your installation to see if this fixes it before completely wiping it... but before you worry about tools and floppys to back up onto an option could be to back up your amiga hard disk via PC / WinUAE I have done this for several disks and it couldn`t be easier... this assumes you have a PC with WinUAE by the way LOL just plug the Harddisk onto the PC load wondoze (when asked to format click no) load up winuae with your usual or a simple setup, in the harddrive section select a hard disk directory (a place to save all the files) and also add hard disk, winUae will see the amiga drive and offer that to be included.... save setting and boot... this will boot your amiga hard disk via winUAE (wich is cool) now all you have to do is copy over stuff to the directory (wich is seen as a large hard disk by workbench... easy and awsome . |

Thanks for the hint, WinUAE worked like a charm (no luck with the drivers though)
