EAB/Lemon Super League 2018: Round 2 Game Vote
EAB/Lemon Super League 2018: Round 2 Game Vote - GAMES REVIEWED IN ISSUES 34-36 OF AMIGA POWER Starts: 00:01 January 14th Finishes: 23:59 January 27th Rules Full rules are here. Vote for five games. Your first choice gets 5 points, second 4 pts, third 3 pts, fourth 2 pts, fifth 1 pt. This is the first theme round of the season. You can only vote for games within the specified subject. In this round, we are playing suitable games that were reviewed in issue 34, 35 and 36 of Amiga Power magazine. This covers full-price and Public Domain games, but no re-releases or AGA-conversions of OCS/ECS-titles. Edited votes will be discounted (unless told otherwise) so think before you post. Please only vote on one board - either EAB or Lemon. If a game comes in ECS and AGA versions, please state your preference in your vote. In the event the versions differ gameplay-wise, the version with most votes will be played. ECS is the default if you don't specify. The winner of Round 1 has double voting power for Round 2. (1 = 10 points, 2 = 8 points etc). However, because the voting for the next round ends before the current round ends, players must place their votes and wait for the current round to end to see who will have their vote doubled. Tactical or nosey voters can see the Lemon voting thread here. You can see the index of reviews for these magazine on AMR here (excluding PD games which are listed in the 'Other' tab) - Issue 34, Issue 35, Issue 36 Here's the full list of eligible games that can be voted for (HOL links found in the links above, may be added here later)... Issue 34 - February 1994 Bubba 'n Stix Cool Spot F1 Fatman Fingus the Bouncing Fungus Kung Fu Charlies Skidmarks Snapperazzi Spacial Hyperdrive Issue 35 - March 1994 Caffeine Free Diet Dangerous Streets Mega Motion Nostalgium Parattack The Ryder Cup Toobz Issue 36 - April 1994 Assassin Special Edition Batman Returns Crazy-Cricket Dithell in Space Fly Harder Glodrick Hyperion Manchester United Premier League Champions ("Sensible Soccer that plays like Kick Off") Microcosm Morton Strikes Back Muzzy Naughty Ones Puggsy Statix Tactik Tanks Tube Warriors Winter Olympics Last edited by john4p; 13 January 2019 at 20:18. |

Please correct me if some of these games aren't suitable for competition after all.
Also not sure if we should allow F1 and Lamborghini American Challenge as they're basically identical to Vroom and Crazy Cars III. edit: F1 is fine (because we haven't played Vroom in a long time), but I've removed Lamborghini. Last edited by john4p; 14 January 2018 at 15:45. |

Lamborghini American Challenge is identical to Crazy Cars III except for the two-player mode (the one-player game is exactly the same) so when we played it a few years ago we decided that Lamborghini wasn't eligible to be voted for too.
I think Vroom is back in play now anyway so I guess it's academic. F1 has more tracks than Vroom so it isn't exactly the same game. I think that's okay. I wonder if Fly Harder is a problem as the enemies always respawn when you've killed them. As for these PD games... I think they need a fair bit of research as a lot of these don't look convincing to me. The Free Willy? 'game' listed in issue 35 is just an update on a game they reviewed in issue 33 called Willy's Humungous Adventure so that shouldn't be listed, at least. If I am being honest, this maybe could have done with a little more preparation a few days prior to the vote starting. |

I've played Vroom and F1 (mostly F1) a lot. The game engine is the same but the tracks are different, and F1 has the "Turbo" mode besides the 2 players mode. It's definitely not the same game , but very, very similar
Crazy Cars 3 and Lamborghini indeed are the *same* game sans the 2 players mode. I'll read the reviews to make a choice Last edited by Shatterhand; 14 January 2018 at 15:51. |

I see. Thanks for clearing that up. So F1 is fine.

level reached * 1 million - score So quasi lowball. Main score would be level reached and the ingame score gets subtracted from that. So incentive would be to get as far as possible with killing as little as possible. True, sorry about that. |

my vote (I'm considering Lamborghini isn't eligible, or else it would get the 5th spot )
1 - F1 2 - Seek And Destroy 3 - Dithell in Space 4 - Naughty Ones 5 - Kung-fu Charlies |

^ We had to remove Seek and Destroy as it was just the CD32-release. Original release of the game was 1993 (we're only voting for new games that were reviewed in those three AP issues).
Sorry for the inconvenience, please change it to something else. |

Done!
1 - F1 2 - Dithell in Space 3 - Naughty Ones 4 - Kung-fu Charlies 5 - Manchester United Premier League Champions Never played MUPLC ( but played "The Double" a lot ), so let's give it a chance I remember playing Kung-fu Charlie on a The One Coverdisk and having lots of fun with it. It was like a cross-over of Bubble Bobble with Karate Kid |

Only 3 days left - get your votes in everyone!
Note that we'll still play a full week of Pinball Dreams after the voting for Round 2 has ended. |

17 Voters so far - making this very tightly restricted round hotly contested!
Just a few hours to go an then we find out which game won. Capehorn potentially has the double vote, but he has yet to vote. |

I wasn't going to vote as I know so few of these games. It's been so long since I won a round I'd forgotten about double voting power. Hmmm...

Thanks capehorn
I used to love Fly Harder back in the day. It was just a cheap budget title, but the music was very atmospheric and graphics looked AGA, even though it was an OCS game. I noticed Fly Harder was released officially for the CD32, but its just the OCS version, and nobody noticed. Bubba 'n Stix seems a combo of puzzle and skill, and like Bubble and Squeak, I wanted to like it but never got beyond the first few screens. |

Voting's over, these are the results:
1. F1 - 41 pts 2. Skidmarks - 37 pts 3. Manchester United Premier League Challenge - 27 pts 4. Naughty Ones - 22 5. Morton Strikes Back - 17 Next week double voting power will come into play. But considering capehorn's Pinball Dreams score it's basically a sealed deal that we'll be playing F1 (quasi Vroom Special Edition) in Round 2. Only if either eMTe or Loki manage to win the current round we'd be playing Skidmarks. |
