Best USB serial to use with Amiga Explorer..?

I have 2 USB serials one don't work and when trying to send from pc to Amiga has a COM error but the other one works fine.

Don't buy the cheap USB serials from eBay they are crap.

The other one I have came with a old tablet with pen for the PC,its called a USB Serial Converter.and like I said it works fine, was able to transfer X-Bench over OK.

The USB Serial Converter has a bigger plug on its end,so I am guessing it has a chip inside it to convert it to serial, the first one is not as big so don't look like it has one..??

Have you had problems like this before..?

We use USB<>Serial devices at work and have had lots of problems with cheap converters.

My PC (a Shuttle) has a serial port header on the motherboard. I just needed a cable. I'm not sure how common this is!

I had to try three no-name adapters before finally getting one which worked reliably.

I now use the internal serial header in my PC.

Since all these cheap adapters mostly use clones of the FTDI chips, I suppose that getting the real deal should solve all the issues you're seeing - maybe the Chipi-X?

Hi there.

Although I donĀ“t use these adapters anymore I used to use This.
I was once searching for the best adapter out there aswell and this was the product I was recommended, probably by someone on this very forum.
I have to admit that I havent used it much, but it did work when I did use it.

Hope this helps.

I could never get it to work 100% reliably.
