Exactly. A vampire is essentially the same as installing a Blizzard card with BVision. I wouldn't say it's "half working", it works fine just as it is and offers more than other accelerators available at the moment.

Yeah 'half' is a matter of how you define 'fully working'. The features they promised are implemented and working >95% in the current core, so it is pretty close to 'full' if you ask me.

just because it has all those features doesnt make the price a bargain
as all those features cost nothing today in 2018
now if this were 25 years ago then i would agree

Still cheaper than other options to get something similar. Amiga is not a cheap hobby to have. :P

Where would you find those features for nothing today? Yes, on other platforms but that is not really relevant. Functionally, a V4 standalone may not be that different from a Raspberry Pi platform. Both can boot an OS from flash memory, open a hi-res screen through HDMI, play audio etc. but those are not necessarily why people would choose a V4 over a Pi.

A Toyota Aygo is very useful and cheap if you just want to go from A to B, but some people prefer more exotic and much more expensive cars. They might be worse in terms of reliability, comfort and perhaps even performance but that is not always what matters.

The fact that they are having a hard time fulfilling the demand for Vampire boards is proof that the price is low and it is definitely not overpriced.

that doesnt prove a fact at all
and for nothing you could reproduce a cheaper faster options using parts easily available like all these small computing boards
no need to use a expensive fpga and build boards like this

Go on then. We would love to see your faster, cheaper option .

Yes, fervently waiting for you economical solutions to high priced Amiga peripherals. How long and what types are you working on now?

Excited!

Please point me to a high performance 68k compatible small computing board.

apparently you dont understand the 68k simulation doesnt need to be done on a expensive fpga niche board

Apparently you don't know how miserable the performance of an ARM board is on one thread.

For now the only cheaper, faster option that exists, is to run some emulator on some peecee. Is that what you mean ?

well at almost 2ghz and multiple cores and real 3d hardware i think you can get by just fine
you think you would all want to pay less and get more as a customer
also those same arm chips get faster and faster and cheaper way faster
same for the tiny boards that use them

There's a lot more than 68k going on in the vampire though. For concurrent execution it's difficult to beat an FPGA.

The software on my ODroid XU4 is only satisfactory under Android. The Ubuntu build stinks because it only has drivers for OpenGL-ES.

a slow fpga isnt gonna beat a fast arm emulating a 68k

Bullshit. I've tried both. The FPGA wins.

What ARM chip are you on? 64-bit?
